Shanna, the relationship had its problems, and we both contributed to them. I will agree that she was being selfish, but even at the worst, I'm not going to buy the 'uncaring'...confused as to what she wanted, perhaps, but not going to say uncaring, and I really can't qualify her as a bitch either, because, at heart, she's not a bad person..but she's got some emotional baggage to work out.

And I won't say that I was entirely blameless either. After a while, stress loosens tongues, and I said more than a few things I shouldn't have, their veracity, or lack of, is beside the point. they didn't need to be said.

but it reached a point where she decided that she needed to reinvent herself, and that meant no longer trying as 'us'.

The being discarded I would say would be a cruel moment for her, yes, but I don't really have anything bad to say about her that I couldnt' say just as much about myself.

 

This is a very good point. Besides the fact that my comment added nothing worthwhile to the thread, it was out of line. I lashed out after being totally annoyed by the negative posts flying back and forth.

My post probably came from my own thoughts about my divorce. My ex blamed everything on me. I was the only cause for the desolve of our almost 20 year long, very unhealthy marriage. He was perfect, and I was the problem.

I'm sorry - I don't mean to hijack your thread - I just wanted to say I'm sorry for my rude posts.

I do have to say that I have a husband that does a LOT of the things that you wrote about. He's a VERY good husband and I am very lucky.
I treat him pretty good, too.

about the dissolution of your previous marriage, I totally understand, after all, towards the end, I was the one carrying the blame for everything, whether it was my issue or not.

It's not a pleasant feeling, to feel like you have to be forcibly martyred to get anything dealt with. I eventually got tired of being the only one interested in making peace, and I lashed out, and by that point, I had enough ammo to lay her open....and, unfortunately, not enough restraint to keep my mouth shut.

So I've embraced a philosphy of 'may the goddess wrap her arms around me, to keep me safe, and her hand over my mouth, to keep my foot out of it.'
