Theocracy? You know, I know some pretty strictly religious folks-they may say, this is right, that is wrong (sexually, I mean)-you should do this, you shouldn't do that-but they're not in favor of the government putting people in jail for those things. The things the government is doing today has nothing to do with God, and everything to do with CONTROL. You've just got a bunch of evangelical Protestants (and a few others) that are stupid enough to go down and vote for Bush and the Republicans, actually believing that their agenda has someting to do with "God", when they're actually some of the most irreligious people that have ever been in office!
Went off topic there. Please continue the regular thread folks. I know religion is a major issue in America today. I would rather not argue it. If I want to argue it, I'll go to Internet Infidels.
Plenty of it. The two main Protestant TV networks, TBN and Daystar give tons of free advertising to the Republicans, something that the Democrats can't hope to compete with. The day before the 2004 election, the TBN network aired a documentary called "The Faith of George W. Bush"-I wanted to puke when I saw that. WHAT faith? I mean, what a simple minded bunch of fools that that stuff appeals to-and they go out and vote in large numbers. Those are tax exmpt networks providing free advertising for the Republicans and generating large numbers of votes for them. I complained to the FCC about it and they said those stations could say anything they wanted to as long as they didn't carry advertising.
Ok, we'll get back on topic-no, he's not a pedophile. And yes, it is silly. Remember, this is America, where damn near everything is against the law.
Seriously, people need to know what "pedophilia" really is before they throw the word around EVERY FUCKIN' TIME an "adult" has a sexual interaction with a "minor". But then... society(The American one being a VERY good example) seems to actually PROMOTE misconceptions all the time, pedophilia or not.
