blue, i was asking a question about felons in the military not making a statement about it... do they have to wait ten years before they can join as it is with voting?

one more thing about steve, seriously, god damn u make me angry...were u calling vietnam vets babykillers when they came home?

The better question to ask was, why were those babykillers in Vietnam in the first place? We were'nt supposed to be in Vietnam to begin with, just like the situation we are now in Iraq.

Whether those Vietnam vets killed babies or not is moot. Those Vets killed thousands of people, and 58,000 of us were killed too. That is just the nature of war. The military will always justify it's existence by fear mongering, and if enemies are not readily available, the military will no doubt create one if need be.

I am the asshole??? Think again. :jester: HAHAHAHA!!!!

You're the one who started a thread asking people here in this forum whether you should or should not join the fuckin' military.

Why don't you have enough fucking balls to make your own fuckin decisions yourself???

That makes you the asshole, without fucking balls. :jester:

LOL, oh my God, ya'll need to chill out. For real.

The reason I feel like I have an objective view is because I have seen military life from both sides. Any Army wife can tell you, we're as much in this as the soldiers. That being said, I don't feel like any of the good outweighs the bad in the military. In my opinion, it just isn't worth what you're giving up. I do support the soldiers; they weren't drafted, they chose to fight for something they believe in. Just because I don't believe in it doesn't mean that they are all babykilling assholes. That's not how it works.

Anyway, as someone else very tactlessly put it, it's a decision you eventually have to make for yourself. Good luck, and be safe no matter what you do.

yah, that does probably make u more objective than most, i just didnt see it that way at first, i dunno, maybe i just think there is no objective way to see such a thing as the army

    You may be right there.

As far as the voting thing, offhand I don't know, but I can get back to you on that later. :)

    Military isn't fun...

Well it is if you like guns and explosions and shit (hell yeah)....but not if you like freedom and peace of mind (also hell yeah).

Flagg: I've got to nip this rotten apple in the bud! This sort of action's contageous. One man decides he's not gonna fight, it catches on, the next thing, you know what you've got on your hands?
    B.J.: Peace?

    I love MASH quotes.

You aren't gaurding our freedoms - You're only making us less free.
You aren't protecting us from danger - You're only making it more dangerous.

Many soldiers have good intentions in mind, but aren't aware of how much subtle conditioning that we all go through to be pro-war, at least to some degree; Or at the very least be pro-serve in the military to 'save' the country, because it is 'necessary'.

Thanks, but no thanks. You think you're being helpful, and I thank you for considering others in your choice making, but you're only making things worse. You just don't realize it yet.

the AirForce has the Raptor, a pilotless plane that is used for surveilance now but how far away can a pilotless bomber be? there are prototypes for a robotic infantry too. the Pentagon has already signed up lots of mercenaries right here from the USA to fight in Iraq. rumor has it that there are more of them than there are soldiers. there has been talk in Congress about bringing back the draft for a while now.

so Tok you're absolutely right that someone else will do the fighting if a few refuse to serve and that is happening now. it's still up to the would-be soldiers to refuse the lures offered by the Pentagon and go with their concscience.
