Oh, man, this guy. Hey, everyone! Look at this guy!

Appeal to Authority, and several other fallacies that I'm much too lazy to list.

Are you a sock puppet account of Riptide's, or just a hack?

Studies have shown that humans tend to find somebody who has symetrical features more attractive (amongst other things). Do you agree with these findings? Why, or why not?

I actually heard a rumor that your feelings are valid no matter what your size. Ridiculous, I know!

I'm actually not upset at all. I know that I am healthy and strong. No matter what my size. So take it however you want and say whatever you'd like.

This thread was started because I noticed a social change and wanted to gather the opinions of others. That's all. I don't think it alright to shame anyone for their size.:2thumbsup:

Some people just make fools of themselves for no reason at all, and get off on inciting anger in others--because they're wonderful human beings like that.

As i said , the whole notion of beauty has been discussed by people who are much smarter than than either of us.
Obviously you are unaware of modern intellectual thought, relativism go back to pre-Napoleonic France where it was a hotly debated concept..
Pierre Bourdieu, "Distinction" . various books on the concept of beauty .
Read the books, it is not relative and there are good arguments to support the idea of distinctions.

Please read the books , it is an opportunity.

There are some valid points in his work and his concept of class fractions is interesting.

His theory on distinctions does also state that our notions of social stratifications do change as we change. That as we change classes for lack of a better term, our distinctions change to meet that.

I am not sure then how this relates to this thread.

Edit: The whole theory was not directly related to appearance or beauty, rather that distinctions are across a whole lifestyle. From social interactions to foods to all areas of our comfort zones, in that what we are familiar with is generally what we accept to be a norm.

This is the moral of the thread. Every time I see a few posts that make sense I think the thread is over and then someone else *cough*paulandriptide*cough* comes along and stirs everything up again.

Closed minded people need to get it into their heads that they're not the authority on everything, and every soul has feelings and thoughts that need to be respected. Opinions are opinions and shouldn't be argued as fact.

Oh yeah, I'm justifying a cheesecake by saying that thin and fat people both have feelings. You're quite a bright mind.

Do mods respond to anyone's pleas to close threads? Because this one has run its course. Everyone who is actually a warm blooded human being pretty much agrees and the only ones left arguing are the trolls.

Lol your cheesecake comment and this "don't hate" comment are contradictory. Make up your mind.

    Everything's an opportunity.

In fact, you still have an opportunity to answer the questions that have been posed to you.

I'm not sure that I like the fact that I received some rep for this post.

The truth can be really ugly sometimes.
