Thats only true up to a point.

Had they smelled the weed, they then have probable cause that a crime is being committed and can push their way in to investigate.

You might beat the crazy person charge but they'll still bust you for drugs.

Also, it's a fact that most people talk themselves into jail. Cops are trained to get responses out of you, even in casual conversation. If you're accused of a crime, your best course of action is silence.

Admit nothing, and demand a lawyer.

You're not entitled to just one phone call either. You can make as many as needed in order to get councel for yourself. Make sure you insist on that as well.
