Most if not all 'stuff' is invented here :) . It either takes space to put it to use or to test it in a zero gravity environment.

Space exploration gathers more information about how planets are effected by cosmic influences. The suns cycles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Aztec_eschatology http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/SolarWind.shtml That directly relates to activities here on earth. Global tempatures/warming etc. I'm not ever going to do a good job at 'selling space'. Just look around do some research, it is fascinating. You will be very very suprised at what space has done for us here on earth.

I always think about it as in when explorers navigated the seas and found new continents and a greater appreciation of who they were and their place in the rest of the world. Explorers found new information that they would never have found if they had decided to stay where they came from.

Why do you use the internet ?. Why do you not just ask your close friends what they know ?. I'd imagine because you want to explore and find information that is beyond the sphere of your peers.
