I couldn't agree more. I'd much rather be at a party with a few friends listenin to good music, smokin weed and laughing and watching movies than at a bar with a bunch of twenty somethin guys slobbering on me in their new suits coming from their first corporate jobs and thinking they're the sh*t. Ugh. I decribe Manuyunk. Anyone familiar with this area of Philly? It bites! I try to avoid it now at all costs.

The war on drugs CAUSED the black market, pal. You think JAIL works? How about legalization and therapy. The cost is five times less and the success rate is over 75%!

The Death Penalty for selling a bag of weed? Vigorously enough???? $80 BILLION DOLLARS, MANDATORY MINIMUMS, LIFE SENTENCES WHILE ALLOWING VIOLENT CRIMINALS EARLY PAROLE, BLACK MARKET GANGS CONTROLLING THE DRUG SELLS, CARTELS CONTROLLING THE PURITY, HOMES AND PROPERTY SEIZED BECAUSE JUNIOR HAD A BAG OF DOPE AND HIS PARENTS OR WIFE AND KIDS LOSE EVERYTHING??????????

Do you have any compassion? And common sense? Even CONSERVATIVE William F. Buckley acknowledges the FAILURE of the Drug War. What the fuck do you want? A goddamn police state?

And as far as your marijuana propaganda you post, what about alcohol and tobacco? Do you want those products made ILLEGAL too?

The Drug War is a war on the people and it is a war that fails. The Government can't even control drugs in MAXIMUM SECURITY prisons, what makes them think they can control it outside? They couldn't even stop ONE DRUG (alcohol) during Prohibition, what makes them think they can stop 178 drugs now?

Do you believe Vietnam was a success, too? How about Waterloo? Bay of Pigs? The current fiasco in Iraq?

And you think people who take drugs live in an ALTERNATE REALITY, shit. Talk about "alternate reality"....

Sometimes it takes BRAINS not just BALLS. Sometimes it takes GETTING SMART, not just GETTING TOUGH. How much "tougher" can you get?? Hitler-Tough?

Way to go Libertine!!!! You are right. It is scary when you think about all that is really inolved with the war on drugs. The government needs to be utilizing all the money used to stop drugs and fight drugs for a more needed cause. Healthcare, Education, etc...... It seems to me that if you smoke dope, you are classified with murders and child molesters. You seem to get the same jail time, if not longer. Then the violent criminals are released and end up hurting people again.....

When I hear this type of argument, I wish for more and more tax cuts. its the only way to focus the goverment on what is important and what is bullshit.

The goverment wants to take your money and use it to persecute you.

Our drug war is the result of an over-funded, over-staffed, over mandated burecracy.

All of our civil libretarians are so busy trying to bash bush that they loose sight of bi-partisan persecution.

    Thanks Libertine for your post.

I read somewhere that weed was legal in Denver, CO but that the state was going to over ride that and make it illegal again. Did anyone here that but me?

When Denver voters passed the SAFER initiative making possession of up to an ounce of marijuana legal for persons 21 or older on 11-01-2005, Denver officials vowed to ignore the will of the voters and continue to prosecute people under the state marijuana law. They have lived up to their word, filing state charges against at least 12 adults for simple marijuana possession since then the ordinance went into effect on November 16. On December 1, Eric Footer appeared in court in Denver to plead not guilty and demand a trial. Footer was cited a day after the ordinance became city law, and he accuses city officials of "thumbing their nose" at voters. A first hearing is set for January 18.

The corporations already give us food and drinks that can ruin our bodies, so why are drugs so bad?

No kidding. They can condition our minds and brainwash into buying their toxic excuse for nutrition, but god forbid you want to, say, smoke a joint or something. Assholes.

The war on drugs is a war on people...
It's a really sad state of affairs when a human being's freedom
is treated as nothing more than an asset or liability.
Prisons are big business in this country.
The war on drugs is nothing more than a war on people...
    it's a bullshit war, it's a war over money:mad:
