It is a 'Real-Time Reality Augmented MMO'
Essentially it's a non-stop, global capture the flag you play with any Android device and some portable wifi.(I use a tablet and hotspot with my phone) Slap some great story line over that. Multi-media interaction and puzzles updated daily.

Some shifty higgs boson stuff went down and long story short there are portals of exotic material popping up all over the place. Green guys beleive X. Blue guys believe Y. And then they try to capture each other's portals by going to the physical world location and using your device to 'hack' the location for items.

If the portal is friendly, you can upgrade it's resonators, recharge the resonators and link that portal to another.

If the portal is enemy, you can attack it with bombs and try and either hurt it or win it over. And maybe some other things that I don't know about yet 'cause I'm new.

But that's the jist of it.

 

Hmm I'll try it out. not sure if my town would have anyone playing though.

i am glad to have you playing, even if its not on my team it is fun. the first portals were post offices and firestations, those locations are easily mapped, and very common. other portals are submitted, like historical locations, statues/ artwork and any park with a sign. take a picture, write the description, submit the portal.
areas with a concentration of portals are known as farms. parks are good for this, especially if it has ever-changing artwork.

when you link 3 portals it creates a field. each field generates mind units for the team. fields can be layered, but you can't cross the links (cant cross the streams) the number of mind units that any field will generate is based on the population density below it. this information comes from the census.
