    Hey...thanks yogi and lynn. :)

Lynn... I really liked reading all that.... we def do have a lot in common... and that's a good idea about using the skills you have just to help those around you "in work and in leisure".. I pretty much have the same attitude. :)
And yea... see, with the drug and alcohol counseling thing... I would be really into helping addicts realize they can be happy and content without using.. but at the same time, yea...the weed thing... I take issue to that and some other things as well. I think you COULD be a non-traditional D&A counselor but probably, for that, you'd have to have your own office and the money money money to do so...
Anyways, I will reply more to this later or probably just pm you soon.. my brain isn't working too well right now and i'm trying to eat ice cream and then gonna watch the daily show. Oh! Thanks for the compliment about my son there at the end... much appreciated. :)

    That sucks. :(

Here it is law and on every form you sign to allow a background check there is a box to check if you want to get a copy of it.
I did that once and got a full copy of the check they ran, including all prior employment references they checked AND personal references. The only feedback I got about prior employers was if they were able to be contacted and the standard "legal" question; "did they work there" Pay rate" position" etc., Plus the LEO background check info.
It took two weeks to get it, but it was very informative to say the least.;)
But most places wont run as thorough as one as they did, I was applying for a store manager position, so a FULL check. Plus it costs about $200 to do one.

Soooo I then had all the information I needed to make my resume shine like fucking gold. Knowing what employers were contactable and which were not, I sort of "embellished" some jobs, higher wage, longer time of employment, etc, and also got some insight into what prior employers were saying.
    It worked :D

I very strongly recommend to anybody out there that if you are in that situation and you have the opportunity to get a copy of whatever they turn up DO IT!!

Now if we can just stop them from pre-screening applicants based on credit rating. That only costs about $25, but really tells nothing about work experience or work ethics.:toetap05:

I have decided I hate people. Maybe not an overwhelmingly hatred for them. Just a feeling that to predict them is an inherently worthless activity. And that to ever have any form of faith in them is also a monumental waste of time. Might sound like a kneejerk reaction, but its not a spur of the moment feeling. People are like sharing your house with a pack of tigers. Might be great fun... for whatever length of time. But there's always that nagging feeling that something "less than perfect" will eventually result.

    Fuck it.

EDIT: OK, I admit now, it actually was a spur of the moment feeling. :blush5:

This thread is one of few that has stayed on course lol. So I will not start a new one and add to a good one.

Had to put our dog down yesterday and I just got done cleaning the garage with my driveway looking like a 'night slasher sale. He got real bad and bowl movement all over so I had to use lemon ammonia, What a chemical treat.

But he lived a good life and if a dog has nine lives he used them all up. Rod in back hip from BIL running over him, Dogs fault as he wont move for shit. He was 13, Almost 14 years old, Lab/chese mix large bread. Loyal as shit and never had another like him.

He would lay in the road and people knock and say your dog has been hit, Turn around and be cornered by him lol. He just didn't take any shit, Ill miss the guy, But he was in too much pain and $$ wouldn't save him no matter the amount. He is pain free now and that's whats most important IMO.

Explaining 'death' and 'dog heaven' to a almost four year old is trying to say the least. But he is starting to understand, But still wants his chippy, And that doggy heaven is the vet.

    Chip/Chippy/ChiperDo RIP: feb 00'-9/4/13

Oh damn, that's horrible. I am never good with that. Have two dogs right now who I am going to be an absolute wreck when their time comes. I saved them, but just as much they saved me. I personally feel that dogs are here to teach us, basically to show us as humans how fucked up we are and not loyal we are as a species. Not trying to make you more sad, but a good dog is one of the best things that can happen to a person and you did the right thing by helping him into peace. RIP Chip.

I took a few extra meds tonight and last so im not too down in the dumps. But he was part of the family and we saved him in 00' when my GF worked at a vet clinic.

But that's the price of pets. You train them, They are you're friend until the end with no conditions except food and water. My other dog knew the score and let him pick through what he could eat for a bit, Then she would. When he stopped, She did and stayed close, But she knew it was his time I guess.

He was a lebowski type dog, She is high strung and will chase any car, Truck or motorcycle that don't live in our area. But she was saved too, Dumped in a ditch across the road from my house when I lived 15 miles out on gravel. I cant believe POS people take and do that to an animal when there is a 'no kill' shelter close. Oh well, I got a good, protective dog out of the deal.

Spectacles that made me cry. Probably because it is so close to the truth.

sorry for everyone who has lost pets recently :( My cat died recently too. I got her as a kitten when I was 13 and I'm 28 now. When I moved out of my mom's I left her behind because she had a lot of land there to play and hunt and I didn't want to uproot her, but its so weird going over there now and not seeing her. Losing a pet is a difficult thing.

I know what you are going through, Sorry for you're losses as well.

Thanks to the others as well, Im glad there are still pet lovers/owners/respectful of animals. Some thing they are a living 'toy' and when the 'new' wears off, They dump or kill them. Its sad :(

There is a forum on HF for "Pets and Animals". There are some wonderful tributes to former furry friends in this forum. There are a lot of us on the board who treasure our pets and miss them terribly when they are gone. Again, sorry for your loss.
