Captain's Comments I just dont see any reason any longer for America and the West to be pussy footing around with Russia in the conflict. Just give Ukraine what it needs to win this conflict once and for all instead of letting it slowly die to a bully aggressor . In my eyes this is appeasement . The US has over 3500 stored Abrams tanks out of service and despite being mothballed will be slowly deteriorating . Just 500 of this surplus equipment readied will be enough to turn the Red tide backwards. Whilst obviously they will not be upto the current spec of what the US uses now they will still be far superior in armour alone to the Russian T72,80 and T90 tanks. The optics will be far superior and on the modern battle field its a case of see first, shoot first firstand kill first . Nothing for second place .
Transporting all of that could prove a logistical nightmare though. And these tanks might be assigned to reserve. But yeah. They're collecting rust. And it's not like the US is getting invaded anytime soon.
I recommend this shortish video by a Colonel in the Austrian Army . I am a little disappointed that the Colonel mentions that America have decided not to sent the Rocket Artillery the Ukrainians desperately need. I hope he is wrong on that point .
A bit of a horror video. Again viewers discretion is required. A burning tank and unable to get out is a tankers worst nightmare. I only hope they where killed instantly . Again an example of poor Russian tactics . You never send tanks into a built up area unsupported by infantry and/or the air.
It seems ex US Generals.other countries military officers, military enthusiasts and wargamers understand the Russian doctrine of the use of artillery , which is slowly winning the war for the Russians better than the US decision makers
Pure Russian propaganda and western media keep buying it. No way Putin would order mutual destruction as that is what that would entail if he thinks about using one of those.
An excellent video featuring a Ukainian artillery unit. Of interest to me are the Tanks being T72s likely to be western supplied .
Whilst I agree with the above in parts ,however what it fails to emphasise that these separatist forces whilst lesser equipped will have much higher morale than regular troops and believe they are fighting to liberate as what they see is a country that is rightfully theirs.
Keep blocking grain exports, Putin... See how the rest of the world reacts to you starving them to death. That should work out really well for you, fucking moron.
Captains Comments 2 This is # 2 of my comments . It isnt really something I like doing but I have to criticize the West further . I was delighted when Ben Wallace the UKs Armed Services Minister announced that the UK were sending longer range missile systems in the form of the M270 MLRs systems . Then that got me thinking the British Army only has around 40 of these systems start off with ! So how many are we sending ! Then I found out 3 ! Eh ? I also found out that the US is sending 4 M142 Rocket Systems . Yes FOUR . Woopeedoo So a quick Geography lesson . The contested Russian occupied area of the Donbas has a frontage of some 500km . The USA and the UK are sending a total of 7 SEVEN Longer Range rocket systems . It doesnt take anyone ,with or without military hardware knowledge to recognise this isnt going to make much difference other than provoke Russia into more Cruise missile attacks on Ukraine cities that havn't been involved in the conflict for some time and more civilian casualties as a result . If the West really want Ukraine to prevail in this conflict then it needs to do better with both quality and QUANTITY of weapons it is sending . Placing a mere plaster on gun shot wound isnt the solution Ukraine is looking for.
Russia can break all the rules it wants including war crimes as its unlikely that those responsible will ever be brought to account . Ukraine started these Kangaroo courts earlier last month . It looks like a tit for tat to me. My view is no soldier should be held accountable for obeying orders. Its the higher ranking officers who make the decisions that are accountable.
There comes a point where the orders might be going to far, such as shooting civilians/children/etc. There is honor, and possibly death, in saying "No... I will not"
