Doing something in these terrible times does not necessarily mean provoking sleeping giants......one thing is helping out, another thing is blind provocation.

There is something to be said for the populace rejecting gun control, as we may need self/family defense someday.

Reports say Ukraine is putting up a stiff resistance, but how long can they hold out without troops from America and NATO? Especially when Russia has air supremacy?

If we don't send in the troops and Russia takes Ukraine it would embolden Putin. Kazakhstan could be next. If we do send in the troops....fuck. Suddenly I have a lot more sympathy for LBJ dealing with Vietnam!

It gets very complicated … economics, territory, borders, and certain egos… unfortunately innocent lives are not factored-in as being important, just expendable. SUCH a tragedy!
As a physician, I value life and health over all those trappings. Please wake up, “leaders”!

Russia may win the battle in the short term, but the Ukrainians are tough, and could start a gorilla war. Ukraine may become another Afghanistan for Russia.

Many people around the world are asking why would Russia wish to reclaim that damaged, leaking, radioactive sarcophagus, but to them it's a symbol of former Russian might, superiority, and dominance

To Putin, the Ukraine represents a buffer from encroachment by the West and NATO.
Ukraine was becoming too West-friendly, and therefore, according to Putin’s new world order, has to become an Eastern block entity, whether the Ukranian people want it or not.

According to a post on Twitter, the Russians launched an assault on an airport 15 km from Kiev, and got their asses handed to them because they underestimated the Ukraine's air defences. If someone who responded to that tweet is correct, the Ukranians didn't take prisoners. (And seeing how the Russians already violated the Geneva Convention by bombing hospitals, I'm perfectly fine with that.)

Deepest condolences for all the Ukrainian and Russian lives lost in this man-made calamity.

Hope sanity and peace will prevail. The UN, NAM and impartial world leaders need to create a space of dialogue and diplomacy in between these belligerent entities so as to defuse passions.

That reactive armour is old . My model tanks that portray Soviet tanks have it and they go back to 1985 .It was a concept introduced by the Israelies in 1982 called blazer armour to help counter the affects of hand held anti tank missiles.

The equipment the Separatists will be using are tanks that have been previously mothballed buy the Russians . The Russians have many such tanks and equipment stored for possible use in the future and rarely scrap vehicles unless compelled to by such things as arms treaties .

I agree. The West IMO have not learned the lessons from the 1930s and we all know what happened there .Economic sanctions will work .......................... eventually, but then it will be far too late for the Ukraine . Even now there are 3 countries breaking ranks over this Italy,Germany and Hungary .
