I am getting a little troubled with this conflict . For most conflicts and wars you can generally see some sort of end game scenario .
Former US Generals cannot see an end game with this conflict. In my view they are spot on .

Instead of Peace talks we dont seem remotely near a Ceasefire being agreed and things are escalating .Ukraine is slowly bleeding to death ,with cities being slowly pounded to rubble, lives lost both military and citizens, people displaced from their homes ,families split . Refugee crisis in neighbouring safe countries. This needs to end otherwise there will be nothing left to save with Peace talks.

As the post above shows Ukraine have hit a Fuel depot in Russia . This is the first time Russia or Soviet Union as it was then called, has had an attack other than terrorist since WW2. This troubles me also ,as it clearly demonstrates an escalation and will help to justify Russia's "Denazification of Ukraine" and strengthen the Russian citizens support . Not a great move in my view . Also the MI 24 Hellicopter Gunships used are likely to have been supplied by Nato as the few Ukraine had ,I believe where destroyed in the early stages. This is not really what Nato would want its equipment used for . This is beginning to feel more like WW3.

What needs to be done in my view is to hurt Russia further and force them into peace talks on Ukraine's terms. Nothing so far has worked either with sanctions, military operations or diplomacy .

    The state of play .

Clearly Russia is placing more emphasis on the Eastern Side with more troop concentrations . Purely from a Russian military point of view this makes sense .

The intelligence report says it all,

An Army cannot operate without fuel and without a re-supply of ammunition.

I think Ukraine should continue to focus on military targets in Russia, but stay away (far away) from any civilian targets or they will lose the support of the people.

    That will fail

    Napoleon 1812
    Adolf Hitler 1941

The best Ukraine can do is to try and push the Russians out and may be they will give up due to losses as per Afghanistan 79-89.

Anyone who thinks this conflict will end any time soon are wishful thinkers .

Putin is a brutal dictator... has nothing to do with communism. That ship sailed a long time ago.

I agree even though Russia does not have the democracies we enjoy in the West.

Communism came officially to an an end in 1991 . However to this day, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation remains the second largest political party after United Russia.

It is still a very dictatorial country

The war will end when Putin wants it to end. The only way it ends in a more timely manner is if NATO forces Putin’s hand.

Thats the point I was making when I said Russia needs to be hurt more to force them to the peace talk table. Existing sanctions, military aid to the Ukraine etc havnt worked .

I still think/hope Putin is just going to take what he wants(gas/strategic/harbor) and back off........we can hurt his money/economics, but so can he(gas/eu)*sigh*

And he still has the backing of the Chinese(Taiwan)......

I think that if the people of the Donbas region want to belong to Russia so be it. However, Russia is then forced to fund the rebuilding of Ukraine.
