I am guessing the Ukrainians will be getting more in the way of Weapons and Ammunition . I think others can see what I have been seeing for some time that the tide of war is slowly turning ,with Ukrainian forces doing more counterattacks .Russia are now resorting to more longer range weapon attacks as their ground troops are floundering . The weapons will be needed from Nato to keep the momentum going . Details will obviously be classified but I dont think the US sent such a large delegation to organise a Christmas Party . Poland as I have said before is modernising her forces and casting off all or most of the old Soviet era equipment that will be useful for Ukrainian forces to use and it will be familiar to them .

You may be hearing more and more about Russian Tactical Battle groups .

Below is what one contains just to give everyone a better idea as what the "experts " are talking about when they mention them

The chart below assumes full strength ,which isnt always the case due to breakdowns and losses etc :)

I hope NATO Allies are getting Poland to move their old but still useful weapons over to Ukraine and that NATO allies will BACKFILL Poland so it is not left exposed.

I think that is happening but cant reveal anything to the media .

I know S300 missile systems have been arriving .

The US has a lot of surplus military equipment including F16 and F15 aircraft . It also has stocks of Soviet Equipment captured during the 2 Gulf wars .

We are already in it ,with on Russia's side Belarus and now Chechen troops involved . See my post regarding a killed Chechen General .

The events are slowly mirroring the 1930s and WW2

The hope is on these peace/ceasefire talks . If these break down then there is no going back as far as I can see .

There are some crucial peace talks this week . Some or all of the Donbass Region will be negotiated I think with what I am hearing

Its upto Ukraine to agree .

I'll list some some Pros and cons but its not exhaustive .

    Pros

    1) Peace . Provided its permanent is the primary and most important objective .

    2) Some Russian speaking people who live in the Donbas Region do want to align themselves with Russia again but it must be remembered not everyone who lives in the East wants this .

    Cons

    1) Putin gets more of his way

    2) The peace may be fragile . The 2016 ceasefire in the East was never kept and around 15000 Ukrainians and an unknown number of Russians and Separatists lost their lives prior to the Invasion proper in 2022 .

    3) We will end up in a East Ukraine and West Ukraine situation . It worked in Finland in 1940 to a degree after Finland gave up some of its territory to Russia . You also have the North and South Korea situation where officially they are still at war as it was only ever agreed a cease fire in 1953 . The longest ceasefire in living memory . Of course the West and East Germany as well .

    4) There will be most likely Russian Combat forces stationed here in response to the Nato forces stationed in the Easterly Nato countries . So there will always be tension .Cold War 2.0 .

    5) Ukraine must be allowed to remain neutral and build up its forces as it pleases and have concrete security guarantees .Unlike the assurances on the agreement signed by Russia,The USA and the UK in 1994 when the Ukraine dropped its Nuclear armament. A bit of irony here as would Russia have invaded if Ukraine had retained its nuclear weapons ?

    6) Can Putin be trusted to keep his side of the bargain ? His past history tells us otherwise .

    7) Putin can't be brought to book for war crimes as he will clearly not give himself up .

    8) Russia gets off war reparations and so Ukraine will need to rebuild its destroyed infrastructure .

    9) The Russian population may never know the truth of this conflict.

    10) Will Putin stop here or start looking around for more land grab .?

Despite all of these Cons the most important thing is lasting peace .

    Dunno

The Crimea is full of Russian speaking people with Russian traditions .

If Russia had done the Referendum properly ie democratically then the West I think would have accepted the result more.

You have to bear in mind sometimes that the Ukraine has always been part of the Russian Empire apart from a few months prior to WW1 . Then of course with the desolving of the Soviet Union in 1991. Therefore parts particularly in the East will have ties to Russia .

I don't think Russia deserves to get anything other than the chance to leave and never come back.
