I read novels at 7. I was always specifically advanced as a reader.. but I wouldn't call myself SUPER smart or advanced in any other areas.
My dad used to read adult novels to me so that probably had an impact. By adult novels I don't mean filth.. just realised that doesn't sound right. you know what i mean.
He's amazing. He read Neil deGrasse Tyson's Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry not too long ago and now he likes to have these deep talks about the universe lol He was put into a program for gifted kids like a week before school shut down :/
One of his books gave me nightmares as a kid. It was about a human family turning into ducks. Somehow it freaked me out more than his other books that were ment to be a little scary for kids
my dad read me a short story about a man who was told he could have all the land he was able to walk around in one day. The man kept seeing extra bits of land he wanted and walking further. then at the end he died of exhaustion and it said "six feet of land was all he needed". made me cry. i found it horrifying. i was probably about six. we talked about it a few years ago and he said he just wanted me to learn the danger of greed.
I think my favorite books as a kid were the Wrinkle in Time series. Did anyone else read those? Oh and Where the Red Fern Grows. I cried for days after reading that. RIP, Old Dan and Little Ann! Gone but never forgotten!
Oh yeah, that's why my parents read the bible to us Lots of such 'lessons'. I shaked off the religion but am very happy to have grown up with all those biblical stories
