I remember really loving a book by Eric Kastner when I was seven. Emil and the detectives. And Enid Blyton stuff. I'm sure I would have loved potter as a kid.
I couldn't get into the Vampire Chronicles but I loved loved loved the Mayfair Witches series, did you ever read those? I called in sick once just to read the Witching Hour and didn't do anything but read it aaalll day lol, that was a great day
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. @Asmodean , definitely going to order Ronja the Robbers Daughter
I so hope you also get that swedish movie adaption on dvd It made a profound impression on me as a kid, even more so than the book. And still appreciate it a lot as an adult. Ok, made that clear enough now
I was into Goosebumps and The Chronicles of Narnia at that age, so not really advanced reading. I had a lull in reading after that for a few years, only read assigned school books as I got more into video games, hanging out with friends and sports. I'll recommend I Robot simply because I think it's the GOAT of sci-fi, I read it as an adult tho. It's much more cerebral and less action packed than the Will Smith movie adaptation, which might not appeal to a child but It's actually a collection of short stories, so you got different scenes, space travel, and robots.
I picked up "The Wizard of Earthsea" in NZ, because flipping through it I saw the protagonist was "Ged" and wondered if this was why our old Ged was Ged. And it was a good book! Maybe sooner, but certainly in a couple of years time, THE STONE AND THE FLUTE. It is extremely long, but extremely good.
I know, I thought of you. I have a good 4.5kg left but I wish I'd known to get extra when I got that last bag.
Black Beauty Watership Down I was a kid a long time ago and am female so what I was reading at that time would probably not suit his interest.
