The question is rather simplistic so a simple (humorous?) answer is called for. I think both answers are equally good (or bad).

 

People would have less time to accumulate things which would lessen the impact on the environment.

right. development, i guess, is what i was hoping for. how a bunch of self interested people, with a consideration of others put us here and whether or not we're wrong paradigmatically or whether a tweak here or there is all it'll take. critical vs liberal ultimately.

There is just so much context that is needed. Besides, I think that we would find that our outlooks aren't that different from each other once we recognize more and more of each others worldviews Many times people just get into arguments of semantics and we all get lost in that...
