The Sixties

My parents graduated in 1966 and step-parents in 1968 and 1974. They don't have such a "rose tinted" view of the 1960's.

Rampant drug use and drug addiction, the "free love" movement brought with it a massive outbreak of STD's and unwed mothers, domestic terrorism, violent protests, too many young men being shipped off to war, violent and often deadly racially motivated clashes, and the deaths of JFK, RFK, and MLK. Those 60's hippies got tired of being broke and smelling bad so embraced capitalism and became the BMW driving, pill popping, come snorting yuppies of the 1980's.

And to add insult to injury - nothing the anti-war protesters did made any difference at all. They didn't end the war. They didn't even shorten the war

 

I'm so tired of the over-used stereotype that everyone whose views shifted to the left during the sixties stopped taking a bath. I don't remember encountering many of those people at all.

Exactly. who exactly do you remember, talk about those people the people you know.
Do you think that if there are things you don't know about yourself that you would be qualified in any way to be expert on others
the reason we don't have political security is because of you idiots that think it is knowledgeable to be a gossip

 

Yes, it is possbile. After all there are always things you don't know about yourself. This doesn't (has to) stop people from becoming an expert on others in some way.

 

Then it is never possible its just gossip and we are wasting our time on it while the world chokes on it's bulge

 

I wonder what would happen if people stopped talking about each other

maybe they would be honest with themselves.

We were talking about the value of wasting time. Not the value of the number 6. One is subjective, the other is not.

I'm not going to stop making cultural and political observations, no matter how it makes you feel. I enjoy doing it.
