Have you actually been to Leeds/Reading? I love the atmosphere there. It is very different to Glasto I imagine though. What I love about Leeds is that you can talk to anyone at anytime and have a laugh, everyone there is there for the same reason...a weekend of pure fun and lots of falling on your face. You can meet a lot of fun fun people. People at Glasto may be joined together by something more profound or deep, but people at Leeds are all there to have an incredibly fun weekend and get as pissed as possible. I love that. Call me a loser/boozer/simpleton...I think its ace. The thing about Leeds is that it was always commercial...no one has sold out...it's not pretending to be anything its not. Its a different league of festival to Glasto, doesn't mean it doesn't has an atmosphere.

stop it, stop it, your getting me far too excited, all I’ve been thinking off is the markets & the green fields. I’ve no idea what its going to be like as this is my first time but I’ve heard lots from the people that have been & reading the posts on the glasto message board. In my head I had an idea of what the place my look like & the set up & such. But a young lass that’s working within the site setting it up at the mo posted some pick on the message boards & it looks totally different to what I imagined, now I’m trying not to think about it & just wait till I get there.

Don’t give up, I’m telling you now it’s the best thing you will do, don’t listen to the people here winding you up offering you cigs, show them how strong willed you are & carry on quiting.

I don’t know why people don’t like change, change is inevitable. I have to ask, would the people enjoy it as much if glasto hadnt changed? the people of today are different to the past generation so change is bound to happern. Even tho I’ve never been before & cant comment on the atmosphere at glasto or the change in atmosphere I’m guessing that the atmosphere is an individual one, that’s what I’m going for.

I couldn’t give a shit about whos on at glasto, I don’t know why people are so bothered about headliners, to be quite honest, I couldn’t care less if there was music there are not I would still want to go. I totally agree with you, again even tho I’ve never been I think that if the green fields were taken away from glastonbury, then it wouldn’t really be glastonbury festival, it would just be another mundane festival. The green fields are all my bf talks about from his past experiences of glasto, I thinks that’s why I’m so excited!

    HERE HERE!! *raises beer can*
Readi ng festival is an amzing experiance in its own right. Its a different croud of people to glastonbury so of course the atmosphere would be different same as it would be if you went to a blues festival, or reggae festival and compared it to glasto or leeds or reading.
I went to Glasto when i was 7 and have wonderfully fond memories of it, that was 1994, now in 2004 10 years later i am returning and am indeed looking forward to a totally different atmosphere. If every festival shared the saem amazing atmoshpere... for a start it would no longer feel so amazing and secondly where would the variation be? Reading has a wonderful atmosphere its just largely different to other festivals.

I was wondering what was going on here! Checking back in to read how folk are doing and top of the page was posts from 2004 - Thought I might of been cast back to the past to earn some redemption :D

And I actually agree with that ancient Fleassy post. Only been to Leeds, not reading. But everyone was great there - I was of course a festival goer and not part of the security team...It certainly isn't the place for them. Not without riot gear anyway ;)
