Wasn't the Jeep Nelliebelle? As for the radio, in my first car a 54 chevy converable, the radio was missing the tuning knob and so I set the two outside buttons, one high one low that way by pushing on both buttons you could tune the radio.
Nellie Belle it is! Everybody got the radio question. Floor dimmer switches went out in the '70's, when imports started to arrive without them. I remember starters on the floor, most were by the clutch so you had to push it in to hit the starter. How 'bout more car questions: 1. What's a three on the tree? 2. What were the buttons for on the left side of the dash on early 60's Mopars? 3. What's a Wonder Bar (not bra). 4. What type of tape deck preceded the 8 track? 5. Who was "Mad Man Muntz". 6. How do you double clutch? 7. What kind of jack did American cars use? 8. What was different about Chrysler Corp.'s lug nuts? 9. What's a breather pipe? 10. How do you defrost the windshield on a Volkswagen Beetle?
Oh, OH, I got #10, it's a trick question, the answer is you don't. You just roll down the window and look out it. Also when I was growing up all my parents cars were three on the tree
my first truck was a 1980 f150 straight six three on the tree..its the newest model column shift I ever did see double clutching is letting the pedal up in neutral between shifts to speed up the gears ...usually done in big trucks without synchros some chryslers had reverse thread on one side..I seen a olds like that once too up here(canada) Ive seen beetles that came with a gasoline heater in the front trunk that you had to light and the wipers ran off the air from the spare tire edit:and the starter switch on the floor Ive never seen...but my dad always tells me the story of how when he was young he would put my grandpas truck in gear and ride around the yard using the starter until the battery died...and once it died on the train tracks
A 4 track proceded the 8 track and you had to flip it over to hear the other side. Here's another VWub question; in the older VWubs what did you do if you ran out of gas?
1. Three on the tree is right, 3 speed on the column. 4. 4 track is right but you didn't flip it over. It looked just like an 8 track but the rubber drive wheel was inside the player. It would flip up into the tape when inserted. And it only had 4 tracks, two songs running at once instead of 4 like the 8 track. 6. Double clutching is right. 8. Chrysler's had left hand thread on one side, right on the other. 10. Was a trick question. Roll down the window, use an ice scraper on the insider, or take off your gloves and press your hands against the glass. I've seen the windshield washer run off the spare tire. Which brings to mind...anyone remember vacuum wipers?
no.i'm trying to remember but i don't think i do.i think i've heard of them but i don't remember.i remember my name.
I'll have to look in to the 4 track thing. I could've swore. As for vacuum wipers the neat thing about them was when you accelerated they would slow and even stop and when you let off they would wipe like crazy. As for the VBub defroster I had a long handled Ice scraper and would reach out the window while driving and scrape a hole in the ice so I could see to keep driving.
2. What were the buttons for on the left side of the dash on early 60's Mopars? I had a friend who drove an old dodge and it had a push button automatic. He'd rev it up in park and then he'd say: "ah that!" and hit the drive button and leave copious amounts of snow tire rubber on the road.
When you went to the drive in, in between movies they would show a little imp that would jump all over the screen. So my question is what were you suppose to do when the imp jumped to a new spot?
Nice try but seeing as the imp would jump around 20 or 30 times, that would mean going to the concession stand 20 or 30 times. Yeah only one in denver now.
in their heyday there were about a dozen within a half hour drive.we're down to one also.the only thing i can think of is the imp was used to tell how soon the next movie would begin.....as for the tape deck question.i never had one.i remember friends and co-workers having them but i never paid too much attention i guess.
Once again a nice try but people were suppose to do something everytime the imp moved. Here maybe this picture of a Muntz Jet will give you a clue. Maybe even a couple of clues.
