I'm watching another big war unfold and I fear for America's younger generation. If an old man like me can be drafted, so can the rest of YOU. And PlayStation is a poor substitute for battle wits.

I won't believe Putin's dead before I see a massive state funeral. Besides, his clone, Medvedev, is more than capable of continuing.

Iran has everything they need to build nukes now. They also have some dandy missile systems to deliver them. I doubt they'd actually use them on Israel, but they have threatened exactly that. I suspect it would be worth more to them as a tool for blackmail in the region. And that would only succeed on a limited scale as long as the US sticks around the Middle East.

But I think the US will be distracted by attacks internally and a dramatically-shrinking economy as a result. Once Americans learn that the US government can't protect them from killers within US borders, confidence in the nation will falter and investments in the US will basically stop happening. The US has a couple of serious weak points. One is consumer confidence. Another is infrastructure so pushed to the limit that cascading failures are possible. And another is the effect a terrorist attack has on the US economy. It's part of why GW Bush was BEGGING Americans to keep buying normally, to stave off a certain crash.

My suggestion to young Americans today is first to get your shit together. Lose the fat, the hard drugs, the STDs and the apathy. Accept the fear, anger and lucidity that results and learn to get over it. Even if you're not "patriotic" about the nation, be patriotic to yourself and those you care about. Be the example of self-sufficiency and confidence. Let politics become secondary or even tertiary to your purpose.

It couldn't hurt to take a fencing course as well as Tae Kwon Do to at least know the mechanics of being a badass!

Uh, that's already happened. How soon people forget...

How can you EVER forget this face and everything he did to fuck up the world after 9/11?

Imagine how PEACEFUL Iraq would be right now if Saddam was still alive and in control.

How many Iraqis have lost their lives since we invaded Iraq?

And Saddam would've been able to deal with ISIS no problem.

Plus he did a great job keeping Iran in check.

Won't even give the chance to whom I might sit by. If no automobile, I'd rather walk! But I can see a goat being better than a old hobo drinking out of his brown bag or a gaggle of welfare kids and a parent on the phone. I'd rather walk!

    chimps or chumps?

any week can "change the world". its just asking a wee much of any week to expect it to.

there's things changing alright. bigger things then petty political picadildos.

like the composition of the earth's atmosphere.

the ration of where enough food can be produced to the number of people who need it to eat and stay alive.

these things take more then a week, but can change dramatically in less then a year.

The size and broad shape of the hip bones of Homo erectus are similar to a modern human’s, showing that this early human species had given up climbing for walking.

That ability was a big advantage during this time period. East Africa’s environments were fluctuating widely between moist and dry, and open grasslands were beginning to spread.

lots and lots and lots. freeways are boring but back roads are fun. scenery is hella more interesting to me from a train though. what you see from a car is mostly what people want to show you, which is of course mostly bullshit. what you see from a train, sure in the urban areas is a lot of graphitti and hoboe jungles, but also the to me, absolutely fascinating stuff in industrial back yards, and then away from the cities, you see stuff you'd never in a million years see from a car.

as for when you want to go, you just go. what a fantasy. sure you "just go", after slaving half your life, either some combination of paying for the damd thing and maintaining it, or paying someone else to do so. greatest trojan horse to rob your time and freedom ever invented. and that's even without taking into consideration how the amount of countryside that gets paved over because of people worshiping them, screws up where the air you breathe COMES FROM, along with places for every kind of thing there is to live.

dollars to doughnuts, in the time it takes you at work to cover the cost of owning and operating one, all the costs that go with it, in that same length of time, you really could walk.
and even the time waiting for a bus, you could be reading a book or playing some game on your phone.\

and even then, user fees, such as the tax on motor fuels, pay for less then half of the cost of the streets and roads that you drive on. the majority of which comes out of general tax revenues, everyone has to pay, whether they drive on them or not. even competing modes of transportation are forced to pay the taxes that build and maintain the roads. if you were actually paying for the road you drive on at the pump, your fuel would cost two to three times what you're paying for it now. (as it more sensibly does in most places outside of north america).
