Anything from 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' by Pink Floyd, and to a (slightly) lesser extent, 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'.

I see a huge lack of mentioning of Floyd.
And I don't just mean Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which is an amazing piece of work. But post-barrett albums are plenty psychedelic.
For example, Atom Heart Mother and Ummagumma for Avant Garde Psychedelic. For the more proper psychedelic, the album more and a saucerful of secrets.
Also, noone's mentioned the Beach Boys, the entire Pet Sounds album, it is a unique sound that's almost never been replicated.
Also, Wild Honey Pie by The Beatles is one song I would strongly consider to be Psychedelic, contrary to many people probably, I don't think the intention of the song was to be Psychedelic but it sure as hell works.
The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows
So in conclusion, some of the earlier Pink Floyd stuff, and if you listen to the newer Beatles stuff(White Album era) you can pick out psychedelic songs that kind of just slip by you as normal after listening to the beatles for a while.

the first time i tripped i was listening to a live recording of Dark Star from the Dead so it will always be the top of psychedelia for me but Floyd had so many awesome ones too. also loved with in you, with out you from the Beatles and who could Lucy in the Sky with DIamonds?

    The Beatles new album Love
I remember when I first heard this albums Glass Onion on mushrooms. I was unaware this was what was on, someone just popped it in, and I must say I was ""tripping balls"". I heard the note from it that goes"Hellooooo" and I thought this was a part of the song I had never noticed before, then the song completely changed to different lyrics, but same sound, and since i'm so used to all the regular beatles songs, I was confused as hell. So I find this is good psychelia for those who know the beatles songs well, as the most psychedelic part is how different it is.

Good call on Bass strings! I think that's my favourite Country Joe tune, especially with a joint smokin. Check out the live version with the Bevis Frond as well, I love that one even more as the original version.

Thank you for mentioning Pink Floyd. Whenever I think of the term "psychedelic," they automatically come to my mind. I admire that you made it a point to recognize their work as psychedelic beyond the album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn." I find that a lot of people who enjoy Pink Floyd's music limit themselves to "The Wall" and "Dark Side of the Moon." I do love every album by Pink Floyd, but I must say that "Ummagumma" is one of my favorites by them, and it is lesser-known than the other two that I have previously mentioned.

I don't have one single favorite from the psychedelic era. There were a lot of good ones.

White Rabbit by the Jefferson Airplane would be among them.

that song is fucking amazing, my favoutite too together with dopesmoker of sleep, that song is an hour of waves of heavy guitar distortion.
i think the ummah gummah album of pink floyd is the most psychedelic album I ever heared, I can't cope with it when I'm high, freakin scary
