    Reconsidering my answer.

Birds n Brass: 'Sort of Soul'

This tune immediately brings visions of protesting hippies to mind.

Listen and tell me what you think... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KIrBmaXOhWA

Although I am a fan of the mainstream acts I see here on this thread, I must say that those bands were mainstream and if you like them, you may want to delve deeper into the really rare, obscure groovy and or dark psychedelia. There are a few requirements, (at least for me) a really good sound system in which you can hear all of the instrumentation and reverb and if you desire, you can enjoy an enhanced version of the songs while under the influence.

    My list:

For a happy lsd or shroom trip-

    1. Strawberry Alarm Clock(60's)-Strawberries mean love (also a great song to make love to)

    For a freak out-

    2. C.A. Quintet(60's)-Cold Spider

    For Paranoia

    3. The Seeds- Gypsy plays the drums
    Two fingers pointing at you
    Six Dreams
    Forest outside your door
    To groove to

    4. The Litter-She's not there (cover)

    5. The Seeds- Chocolate River

All are 60's some are rare but really great if you love Psychedelic music.
