    Life with Father, 1947

Irene Dunn, William Powell, Elizabeth Taylor.
This is one of those movies that couldn't be any better.

Like most of the recent sci-fi movies I've seen, this was disappointing - rubbish in fact.

Alan Arkin, Bob Balaban, Martin Balsam, Richard Benjamin, Italian actress Olimpia Carlisi, French comedian Marcel Dalio, Art Garfunkel (his acting debut), Jack Gilford, Charles Grodin, Bob Newhart, Anthony Perkins, Paula Prentiss, Martin Sheen, Jon Voight, and Orson Welles.

Very good, in the clip below you'll see 17 B-25 bombers taking off. This film saved the last ones in existence. They flew them for 1500 hours to get 10 minutes of film. One man died when he fell from one of the planes. Just the bombers make this film worth seeing.

Loved the book, and I remember choosing it for a book report back in undergrad English Comp when we had to do a report on a satirical novel. To show that we understood satire. You'd be amazed at how many college kids don't get it.

I thought the movie was OK. Arkin was a good Yossarian. But it did lose much of the satire in the translation from page to screen.

Love the B-25 and 24's. Also the Flying Fortress! My grandfather flew them in WWII. I'm a huge warbird nerd, and the B-17 is one of my favorite. Along with the P-51 Mustang...F4 Corsair.....P-38 Lightning. Which the Germans called the Gabelscwanz Teufel for Twin Tailed Devil!

As far as the Brit warbirds....ya gotta love the Spitfire of course. And I also have always been fascinated by the Mosquito dive bomber. They called em Mossies. As a kid there was a movie about them....imaginatively titled Mosquito Squadron, that was instrumental in making me want to be a pilot. My dad had it on old vhs tape!

    Thanks for the post.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes: I found it on YouTube. That movie was messed up but it kept my interest. It had a documentary feel to it and it went back and forth with interviews and creepy found footage tapes.

I had finished the novel just few days ago, yesterday I saw this.

I am not fully satisfied because of the different interpretation given by the director, compared to José Saramago's idea.
