Moving on to my final beer of the night, which I have had many times before and is one of my all-time favorite beers: Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout, which features the best use of real chocolate in a beer. If I was rich, I would keep an endless supply of this beer on hand.
I've had a couple different Samuel Smith brews, I just can't remember if the Chocolate Stout is one of them. But with your praise of it, I'm convinced I should pick it up at some point. I hate when the chocolate flavor comes across fake, like old chocolate scratch-n-sniff stickers or chocolate scented candles. A good example of that is DuClaw's Sweet Baby Jesus which tasted horrible... the fake flavoring standing out like a festering sore thumb.
Pretty much the reason Brooklyn is my favorite chocolate stout. Strong flavor but it leans closer to an imperial than most other chocolate stouts.
Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout is by far the best beer featuring chocolate I have tasted. The beer uses real chocolate and the taste is of real chocolate. There is nothing artificial about it. Right now I am drinking Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA, which is made with distilled hop oil. The beer has a crisp, hop flavor and medium body.
Had Boulevards 2014 limited series quad to break in the new year. It is the lightest 11.% Abv I have ever had. It's a sipper. Down this thing and you will be feeling it pretty quick.
After some intense snow boarding, I was at the bar in the lodge, and they had the mos amazing tasting peanut butter porter from a small brewery called Wild Ride Brewing. It's quite possibly my next favorite beer of all time I discovered this amazing brewed potion yesterday. I doubt you'll be able to find it in many locations because this brewery is very small. But I'll bet there are other Peanut Butter Porters that taste similar. The name was "nut buster" or "Nut breaker" if I recall. First Peanut butter beer I had.
Yeah, hops can get to be a bit face-twisting. It didn't take me long to gravitate to the more malty brews... going from IPAs and the like to stouts and their kin.
I'm guessing this is the brew you're talking about: I tend to shy away from peanut butter flavored brews, but I would easily give this a try. (Along with a couple others they have on their site, like Bitch Stout and Stand Up and Shout Vanilla Stout.)
Right now I am really loving this beer from Ballast Point called Victory at Sea, which is a 10% ABV porter brewed with coffee beans and vanilla. Really good stuff, and especially served near room temperature. Scores a 96 on BeerAdvocate: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/199/48505/
Lol I was actually about to pick one of these up today at the beer store but decided to get a 4 pack of old Rasputin russian imperial stout.
A picture I took today at total wine. They have a walk in freezer filled with kegs and beer to choose from http://imgur.com/8n1OyMj Idk how to post the picture from my phone, only the link
