got a 12 pack of goose island Oktoberfest. I would have been happy to get one in a mix 6. I looked and asked if they had a six pack but they didn't. but I wanted to try it so I bought the whole 12 pack. its pretty good, its got a strong caramel taste obviously its got a maltyness to it. but I can detect no other flavors. not at all upset that I have a few of them. even if I would rather 12 different beers rather than 12 of one kind of beer.

It sounds fairly good, I may have to grab one sometime.
But it sound like I should limit it to a couple bottles.

Granted, I still have two large bottles to try whenever I get to drink next... and the time after that.
One of them is Founders Big Lushious (brewed with chocolate and raspberries, alc. 7.8%).
The other is by Brasserie De Brunehaut, called Cloak of St. Martin (quadruple ale, alc. 13%).

I'm looking forward to both of them.
But I'm wondering if the Big Lushious will be off since it was brewed last year.

I would think it wouldn't be enough to turn it from being a good beer to a bad one.

    Right on.
I'm sure I'll find out soon enough!
(Not tonight, but as soon as I can.)

CAUTION: Stay away from this beer at all costs!

Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale by Rogue [IMG]

I love Rogue beers, but this pink bottle is a real way to punish your taste buds.
This intriguing pink bottle is the demonic child that resulted when a craft brewery and a doughnut shop made sweet love.

I'd rather get drunk on cough syrup and mouth wash than drink this stuff again.

FYI, Voodoo doughnuts is a popular tourist destination in Portland and Eugene. They have a signature maple bacon doughnut that tastes amazingly good.

I love beer. I love maple bacon doughnuts. But sometimes two great things need to stay away from each other as far as humanly possible. Otherwise disasters are created!

^I've had that one. There is also a Voodoo Doughnut Lemon Chiffon Crueller Ale which is also not very good. I like interesting, experimental beers, but indeed these two fell short of being what I would consider to be good.

Someone wants to keep all the voodoo for himself.

Doughnuts and beer are a recipe for disaster. Literally.

LOL sure.. that's the very reason :D

    HA!
Not only have I tried that Bacon Maple Ale, but I still have the bottle siting on my desk from... last year? I think?
I don't even remember what I thought of it, but I'm pretty sure I was in agreement that it wasn't that great.

At least it was better then the bacon martini I tried once... *shudder*

Craft brews pack a huge caloric load, all of which is coming from carbs. I got to nearly 265 lbs not eating junk food, but drinking beer, and most of the fat was centered around my midsection.

Moderation is the key. While I can no longer drink a six-pack of 8% ABV ale in one sitting, I find that when I do drink I enjoy it much more.

That was the plan. I expect to cut way back until i cut the middle out. Then i would be happy just maintaining that. I used to play hockey 3 times a week when i lived in jersey. Im down to an average of once a week here in VA. I am lucky there is any at all in this hick town in the sticks. I plan on busting out the treadmill. Only problem i see is that i am still sore as fuck from playing hockey sunday afternoon.

Yup, when you move around more it gives you so much more leeway when it comes to indulging in the things you enjoy without having to worry too much about turning into a fatass.

Hey, I've got a gut too!
    I think I'm around 5'8" - 5'10", it's been forever since I was measured.
I'm not sure how spot on our scale is, but according to that, I'm somewhere in the 170lb area.
And same thing... all in the gut.

If only I had a proper yard, I would be more likely to be out there with my kid, running around.
    Someday...

Until then, I try not to drink too much and seem to average out to one night of drinking a week or so.
(Granted, my eating habits aren't great for my waist line either.)

5'8 @ 170lbs? that's not a gut. that's skinny enough to disappear if you turn sideways.

Trust me, I have a gut.
It may not be some huge behemoth of a thing, but it's big enough that I wear XL t-shirts instead of L.

But thanks for the kind words. :)

I was 6'1 and 165 in my 20s maybe even 160. So if he has longer legs and or neck than i do with a similar build he can have a bit of a gut.

Five days with no alcohol...i dont think i did that since i had my dui when i was 24. Maybe 5 definately not 6 days.
So was doing some research for my cheat day whenever i take one. And found getdrunknotfat.com tells you the highest alcohol to calorie % of every major drink. Luckily tequila is high on the list which is my favorite spirit. Not sure if there is everclear sold here i know i can pick some up when i go to nj. No surprise everclear has the least calories per amount of alcohol.

Oh man... I miss my tequila.
I need to get more sometime soon.

BUT... I am drinking beer tonight!
    Or rather, "quadruple ale".
    More specifically:

    (Alc. 13%)

And here's my review from that other forum I've mentioned (that barely has anyone posting there besides me):

Oh man---that tongue thing----all around the world, anytime I saw that, I knew I was going to get lucky. Makes me want to go out and date again... (Maybe my wife won't notice ;-) )

My wife too, by the way, used to do that all the time when we were dating.

I had an incredibly awesome night out with my girl. At the restaurant I ordered four beers, both on tap -- two Southern Tier Pumking and two Dogfish Head 90 minute IPAs. To eat I had tilapia over a bed of rice, along with some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. My girlfriend ordered chicken Parmesan and a mango daiquiri.
