Nope, but I saw a dude I know in the line.

I would love to try one of those Monkish/Other Half beers they released last Saturday, but there is no way I would wait 12+ hours in line for any beer. That is just stupid. It's bad enough I stand in line for 30-60 minutes for certain Grimm beers.

 

Holy fuck, that line is absolute insanity.

Three of the best breweries in the world collaborating, but damn, some of those people are just retarded.

Funny thing is, a large number of those people, especially near the end, are standing in line for nothing, because the beer likely sold out before they got through even a fraction of the line.

There are people charging upwards of $50 per can for one of those beers.

 

Drinking Living Daylights from Grimm, a double dry-hopped sour.

The sourness of this beer is nicely balanced with a dry, spicy hop bite in the finish.

Practically 3 weeks gone... damn me!
In my defense, we had family from out of state visiting for a couple weeks, so I didn't have a chance to do my thang.
*shrug*

But hey, I'm getting back in tonight and I'm almost done with my first beer already.
But only one review tonight, as I got a six pack (so I could make use of a coupon that didn't even make a huge difference, but hey... a buck's a buck, eh?!?)

So, the beer:

(Alc. 8.1%)
(Arrogant Bastard - Bourbon Barrel-Aged Arrogant Bastard)

Smell: Sweet malt greets me first, along with a whiff of bourbon. A bit of biscuit in the body. With Crisp & bitter hoppy edges rounding out the nose.

Taste: Subdued bourbon/slightly sweet malt. An easy going middle, then bitter hops curl over the sides & back end.

Overall, I expected this to taste much stronger, but it's fairly tame. The hops bite a bit on the back end, but more of a strong nibble. I'll certainly have no problem enjoying these tonight!

Drinking Mikkeller Oude Geuze, which is a collaboration beer between Mikkeller and Brouwerij Boon.

This is a geuze style of beer and is super crisp, dry, effervescent and tart.

 

It was back in 2001 and you're right, it was a very awesome thing to go to!
I suspect that part of what made it as special for me as it was, was that I went alone.
So, y'know, I could do whatever I wanted at whatever time without having to coordinate with anyone.
Or worry about making sure everyone was on the same page about what to do.
I just meandered about doing my thing.

Shit, I started the whole thing off by taking a dose of acid as my plane was taking off.
Yes, really.
As we were lifting off, I dug into my backpack, grabbed the single paper hit I hid in a CD case and proceeded to have a very interesting flight!
(At one point, I thought a couple guys were laughing at me from a couple rows back and over... but finally realized there was a comedy movie on and they were laughing at that.)
(Also, the smell of cooked food on that flight was... uncomfortable.)

The hostel I stayed in had steps so steep, you needed training from a mountain goat to climb them.
But the lobby was a lot of fun!
There were regulars who'd get high and sit around watching/talking to people who passed through.
We ended up calling it, "riding the lobby".

And I haven't even mentioned the nights at the club.

Not sure if I posted here about smoking myself blind one night...

 

Good to know.
I've been wondering about this ever since I started seeing it in all the local shops.
My dad's side of the family used to be into Jai Alai, so it has a nostalgic flair for me... just wasn't sure if I'd like it all.

Now I know... try that shit.

I had an awesome Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout (or something like that) at he brew...ster...aunt...?
About 6 - 7 years ago and that shit was pretty awesome.
And they also had an incredible all-local grown/raised menu section!
