New England style IPAs and sours are my favorite styles. I am not a huge fan of imperial stouts unless the booze is well hidden. I also like a good porter.
I would have agreed with you a few years ago, but so many better breweries have sprung up since then, and the number is increasing all the time.
Belgian white beers are the best on hot summer days! One of my fav kinds for sure :cheers2: I'm a lager kind of beer fan. Not that experimental. The standard ingredients well brewed beats any fancypantsy beer.
I read several reviews for one beer. And the vast variety of different things mentioned was hilarious. I remember the can was purple. Similar to some grape soda cans I have seen. The beer had no grape flavor but a good percentage said so. AKA a whole lot of psychology is involved with these people I think.
Drinking Zima. I am getting a sprite vibe with a hint of Alka-Seltzer Just kidding, that's how my supervisor describes it. It just tastes like an off brand of a lemon lime soda to me. I used to love them after a hot summer day of work or hockey but since I haven't had one in over 10 years I had a couple just for nostalgia. I am gonna stock up a bit because I'm not sure how easy it will be to get or how long it will stick around. Just sucks because it was the best one of those shitty malt drinks and it seems to be the only one that was discontinued.
I like all kinds of beers, from simple lagers to more experimental ones. But I doubt you've even had any of those "fancypantsy" beers as you refer to them, whatever they might be. Everyone has an opinion.
A lot of people don't know what they're talking about whether it's beer, politics or whatever. However, some people actually have the knowledge to back up what they say. There are a few beer reviewers on YouTube who actually have a good amount of knowledge about the beers they review. They know the flavor profiles of different hops, etc. Some IPAs do have a white grape flavor, such as those made with Nelson Sauvin hops.
Not sure where all this Zima hype is coming from, other than the fact it was just reintroduced. It's always been a woman's drink. I would have expected to see more hype over the return of Crystal Pepsi.
lol at euro fags thinking America has shit beer. I see it on many forums thinking we only have bud light and corona. Dumbasses
Lager is simply my most consumed kind of beer and therefor my fav. I also love triples and stuff that only comes in autumn (called herfstbock/bokbier here) etc. I don't like most stouts and dark brown beers. And any beer with extra stuff like vanilla and chocolate etc. is fancypantsy. You don't combine beer and chocolate: case closed I would call kirschenbier fancypantsy as well if it wasn't an centuries old established kind of beer It's bigger in Germany than here. I don't like it at all. Good beer doesn't need fruity ingredients.
Usually the only beers with chocolate are stouts/imperial stouts. It works because the addition of chocolate compliments the malts. Some stouts can have a chocolate flavor from the malts alone.
I have the feeling that the people who sound like that are simply talking about the situation 2 decades ago or something. Sure there were more american beers and breweries then too but those smaller breweries and a lot of those IPAs became popular relatively recently.
Craft beer started to become popular in the early to mid 2000s, but it seems to have really taken off in the last five years. It seems like every day new breweries are popping up. Beer is becoming more local, almost like back before prohibition. People are traveling hundreds of miles to buy locally made beer produced in small batches. Breweries like Stone and Firestone Walker make some very good beers, but they don't hold a candle to Tree House, Hill Farmstead and Monkish.
This post had the tone of you trying to prove me wrong. Many of the reviews for the beer were spot on. And it was a cheap American lager so I extremely doubt it was made with any complex hops. Maybe I worded it wrong but I had the beer and it had no fruity flavor to it. Rather than quote another post. Zima was the best malt drink there was and it disappeared, while the smirnoff shit stuck around like cockaroaches. Zima was the best drink I ever had for cooling off after hockey on a summer afternoon. I guess girls can play hockey in the summer too.
sam adams porch rocker.. its decent. shandy like .. drank a case and a half if it since yesterday, working on the rest.. not over drunk but nice..
