Situations like that is a waste of time for both parties but it is the Karens that have the choice to grow up and drop it.
It will cost more to fight it in court then to pay the settlement. There are many unethical lawyers to pick on small business in this way. They can represent themselves for free and they know the law. The store has to pay tens of thousands for that knowledge and each time he asks for a new court date (and he will) because they have not accepted his offer the cost goes up. He knew exactly what he was doing. They tell him to wear a mask and he gets paid because technically there is some wiggle room in the law. The virus is new and current laws depend on mutual respect, empathy, and common sense. It's not 100% clear so he was "discriminated" against.
It is an all round pity that people are not made to realize that covid is simply a new influenza virus to humans and it is here to stay. The only additional risk to life would be if it overwhelmed the health services and people died unnecessarily for the lack of medical care. As long as people take reasonable care, working from home, avoiding large crowds, increasing distances and wearing masks is all that is necessary to slow it down to a manageable level without destroying herd immunity. It only needs about 80% of the population to respect these restrictions, in order for the system to work, beyond that, we are simply dragging the epidemic out and allowing the virus to further mutate. In my opinion, since most people want to avoid the virus, simple recommendations are all that is needed to slow the virus to a manageable level. However, with a business that may suffer badly if a large percentage of staff were sick at the same time, the owner should have the right to make the rules on his own premises.
That's crazy, I could go into a room with a hundred other people who might have a similar phone. But If I should happen to misplace it, I'm not going to run around tackling everyone and accusing them of stealing my phone, which is essentially what she did. That's nuts. As people get more and more attached to their phones, expect to see much more of this type of behavior.
I won't be back to reply but Karens hate bare feet. Excuse me you can't be in the store without shoes... ! Why not, how exactly does it actually affect you or anyone else if I am in this stupid corporate store without shoes ?? 4 blocks from the beach ! At least the face mask argument has valid points and IMO the pro face mask argument wins.
Simple. It places liability on the business. In the USA, where people can sue for just about anything and win rewards from juries feeling sorry for the injured person and perceiving the business as deep pockets, extreme precautions must be exercised to keep from becoming bankrupted for the actions of the unscrupulous. All one would have to do is step on one foreign object to accuse the business of keeping a dangerous environment. If one's foot is punctured, an unending litany of complications could be reported, including pain, suffering, disability - further magnified were the person to react adversely to the pain of stepping on something benign which anyone could have dropped and fall in the incident creating the opportunity to claim any and all sorts of ailments. So yeah, doesn't take much of an imagination to see why they require footwear within the establishment. Protecting the customer, if mentioned, is merely a side-effect.
Notice the three percenters flag an American and Canadian far-right, anti-government militia group considered by many experts to be the "most dangerous extremist group" in Canada and now here in the US
(Unbeknownst to me) > The Pisces ♓ women I interact with before a pre-date seem to always end up being disguised as a "Karen"
The Karen at the end with the bullhorn during the capital riots- trying to stir up more shit- from the sidelines!
She was identified and arrested by the FBI so now the only shit she can stir up is while in the can (pun intended)
