Plus, he directed the big tornados to pass through only red states. Pretty crafty technology.

OK Joe, time to put the thumb on Manchin cranky-coal-pants. I'm thinking he's holding out so he can look like a hero.

The democrats are going to fuck him over every single chance they get now. Doesn't Kentucky need some new towns lately?

Will this be enough for Joe Manchin to change his mind?

Coal miners' union urges Manchin to reconsider opposition to Biden plan

The United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), which represents West Virginia coal miners, urged Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Monday to revisit his opposition to President Biden's Build Back Better plan.

The labor union noted that the bill includes an extension of a fund that provides benefits to coal miners suffering from black lung disease, which expires at the end of the year. The UMWA also touted tax incentives that encourage manufacturers to build facilities in coalfields that would employ thousands of miners who lost their jobs.

For those and other reasons, we are disappointed that the bill will not pass," Cecil Roberts, the union's president, said in a statement. "We urge Senator Manchin to revisit his opposition to this legislation and work with his colleagues to pass something that will help keep coal miners working, and have a meaningful impact on our members, their families, and their communities."

Manchin doesn't care about coal miners... He only cares about coal mine owners.

There are a LOT of miners that vote, Mr. Manchin. Here's wishing him some painful angina.

This issue goes to the very core of his constituency If he loses them, he'll lose the next election.

    Fine with me...

He will be replaced by a Republican that will do the exact same shit. Won't help those people in WV, though... You know, the ones that keep voting for idiots.

Well, Manchin has found a great way to get money / favors from republicans,IMO. No matter how many democrats (the left) are in office , no matter if they hold the presidency, the senate, and the house, the republicans ( the right) will always find a way to thwart whatever progressive programs the dems try to pass to help the country. The loyalty to the super rich and the corporations supersedes any loyalty that they have for the working class , democracy or the USA itself. They have cheated, they are cheating, they have lied, they are lying ,and now with a totally corrupt media bullshit factory--Fox "news " --they can keep it up to the millions of classless , useful idiots that will probably ratchet up the violence toward whomever is blamed for a trump loss coming up.

These are dangerous days and it's going to get worse. This may sound crazy, but if the situation devolves into fighting in the streets, wouldn't that be a great time for enemies of the United States to attempt a takeover? Of course with the help of the cult members and legislators who are leaning toward authoritarianism and away from democracy? And also of course---there are always plenty of goons with guns that would do the bidding of ANY type leaders, fascist or communist, IMO. (or democracy, for that matter.)
Might be difficult to consider any scenario where there was no longer a United States as we have known it to be---but hasn't history been chock full of surprises that completely changed the direction and meaning of countries both bad or good? We've held a damn important place in the history of the modern world of the last 200 and some odd years. Are there enough of us that wish to keep and attempt to improve upon the obvious faults that we have, and work toward a more perfect and equitable society? We'll see, I suppose. It's been easy to imagine our democracy would last --well--forever and that the flaws that have manifested would be dealt with and ameliorated for the better. However---this last 5 years has certainly shown our differences and those do not bode well for a harmonious and cohesive society. Which is necessary if our longevity is desired, IMO.
