So, it's a good thing to be afraid of some entity all the time, worrying that you might piss it off somehow and it destroys you? Not the kind of life I would want.

Wouldn't it be a better entity if it could find a way to teach decent values without force, threat, coercion and murder?

So far as the supposed Jesus being nailed to a cross, that was supposedly done by the Roman government as they considered what he was doing was creating a cult and against what that government deemed the population was supposed to believe in. Governments use the same tools of force, threat, coercion and murder to keep their slaves in line also.

I assume the fires you refer to are in regards to the christian conccept of hell. Being a christian creation, it not having been regarded prior to the advent of christianity, only serves to support my conclusions that the christian religion is nothing more than a tool to oppress mankind.

 

No, you misunderstand me. When Moses came down from somewhere, he found that his followers had made an image of something out of molten metal of some kind, he responded by pouring the same molten metal down the offenders' throats.

He saw his people making that golden calf and said these people are not reddy for this , so he came back with the 10 commandments . Different people interept the word of God to fit what they want . The op believes that mans devotion to good cause is un-natural and yet in the same turn rages against belief in super-natural. Reality is not in contention with itself. It is a distorted perspective that sees un-natural/supernatural causes instead of real cause.

Oh, I apologize for saying Moses made followers drink liquid gold. I stand corrected. The gold was remelted, ground to a powder and put into the water.

On Moses , he was on mt. Sini ( not sure how to spell it ) talking to God that appered as a burning bush . When Moses saw his people partying and making that golden calf he broke the tablets , and then got the ten commandents . Some think this is when it chanced from the age of tarus ( a bull) to the age of ares ( a ram ) When Jesus came it was the age of pices ( fish ) . That is what is written in the King James Bible any way , as to if there was a Moses , Jesus , or many of the people in the Bible who knows . What I disagree with is the PRESENTATION of the subject matter and the very narrow and myopic viewpoint expressed.

I'm not defending Christianity in case you yahoos haven't noticed, I'm taking issue with the ludicrous assumptions and conclusions of the OP.

It is possible to take issue with the manner in which a topic is presented and discussed without taking issue with or a stand on the topic itself.
