Dylanzepplin has a good point. In the late 60's we called ourselves in LA freaks. We used Hippy in the context of 'Weekend Hippies', full time students or employed who would appear on the weekends at the Sunset Strip in all kinds of colorfull attire. Those of us living the life usually had no shoes, one pair of jeans, and that was about it. Places like the original "Blue Grotto" and my shop/commune called " Seeds 'N' Stems" (you can probably guess how we came up with the name)took in alot of kids who could not go home and were in danger on the street. At some point 'Hippy' became part of the lexacon, don't really know how or when. But was a good mesh usually. Nameste
your right about one thing ....I DO WANT TO BE only not the way you meant it in the post. I wan't to be beautiful on the inside, I want to one day feel like I have really made a difference in society. Even if I don't matter in the big picture, I hope to have made a difference in atleast one persons life.
After that long drawn out explanation,I think you're right. It was site 68.My story was far more romantic though.Let's just let her choose.Real story or better story?better story, better story, better story(subliminal chant) The names were changed to protect the innocent.
It's easy if you try. With that attitude,I'm sure you've already made a difference.A game I used to play is to try to do a good deed without getting caught. That way you impress only 1 person, yourself.
oh gate, are you out there... How old are you, I still want to see a picture (ask your wife)I know a good deed I could do.............wanna guess?
that reminds me of the book stargirl. that's very cool of you. and i agree that we spend too much time (sorry, but it fits) fussing and fighting over what a hippie IS, instead of just... living it, and not caring if anyone else is "as good as us"...
For the most part I'd say being a hippie was a fasion statement and an ego trip, even now days it is for some. I don't think gate is the dumbass here.
I don't label myself as anything in particular. The only labels I will accknowledge are my generational label, X, and my Astrological signiture. I like people who are unique, and that is just about everybody who is being themselves. The "Hippies" on the forums here have similar interests as myself. That is why I like this site.
