I agree.I've never seen(or heard of) a generation of teens as weak and messed up as this contemporary generation.--
Techie is right. The problems of hunger in the world aren't created by not being able to produce enough food. Hunger are problems of war and poverty, not generally insufficient agriculture.
I don't know what this means exactly but it sounds like something an old person would say... just sayin'
I was half-kidding. As far as I've heard, when my parents and their 'peers' were kids they would do just as stupid stuff. I do think that society is pushing down a (low) expectation upon young people these days that isn't exactly helpful. Maybe they're just living up to that.
"Those rotten kids" are just what are grandparents said about our parents during woodstock. The generational gap is a farce.
I know every previous generation said that about teens(putting them down),including when I was a teenager. And in every case it was false.--However there is something really different about this generation of teens.I don't know what it is exactly, perhaps growing up with all the technology like computers, cellphones etc.plays a part. But I've noticed that alot of teenagers today lack in many areas. It's really a seperate topic, and my intention was not to insult anyone, but just to give my honest opinion.I also think it's harder to be a teenager nowadays than it was 20+ years ago.
Our* perception of everything is mostly media induced. *Used as a loose term to describe the majority of modern society. Please don't be offended if this does not include you.
You're falling victim to "bordered-thinking", for lack of a better term. Food can be transported across borders. There is no wall there. "Shortages" are a political problem, not an environmental one. The way I see it, environmentalism became the go-to rationalization for economic disparity. The logic being that 800 million human beings go without basic necessities everyday due to "lack of resources." That is a fallacy. And we are supposed to buy that in an age when the irrigation of deserts (the surface of the Earth is not even half-occupied) is old technology. And agri-business functions at 20% production. Etc. I think Malthusian (environmentalist/primitivist) logic is not logical. Labor is the producer of wealth, and matter doesn't disappear it is just transformed. That means, the more people there are, the more food production can be increased.
Britain is an island, if there happens to be an oil crisis at the same time as there is a massive crop failure, what the fuck do you we are going to do to feed ourselves? Last year, owning to seasonal inclemence, there were crop failures all across the UK. This year is turning out to be pretty much the same. If our seasonal weather patterns continue like this, we are going to become even more dependant upon imports than we are already. Shortages are both a political and environmental problem, so stop trying to make this a one sided argument.

Hydroponics Aeroponics pretty much any non dirt growing medium, all of which work better than dirt growing large scale, it's just the initial investment is tricky.
Ok, I guess we've reached an impasse. I think national problems, and environmental problems are convenient rationalizations.
im not going to go round and round with you cad, the wheat reserves are all but non existent .. so now there are enough for 4 loaves of bread per person in america instead of a half a loaf.. woo hoo.. semantics..
