Well, there were definitely alot of British musicians who were covering alot of American music. But surprisingly there were a few lads on this side of the pond who were covering British musicians. For instance: [ the song was first recorded in 1960 by Johnny Kid and the Pirates] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aBE1CcTH1U"]YouTube- Johnny Kidd & the Pirates - Shakin' All Over ('65) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxuqUNKqj6E"]YouTube- The Guess Who - Shakin' All Over PAX

Here is an obscure track by a Canadian R&B group Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers. They were Signed to Motown in '68 but were probably playing this song for years before that. The guitarist wrote the song about his white girlfriends hiding the fact that he was half Chinese from their parents. By '68 the guitarist who wrote this song met a Chicano comedian named Richard "Cheech" Maren. His name is Tommy Chong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBxOm-dhoek"]YouTube- Bobby Taylor - Does Your Mama Know About Me Peace Out, Rev J

One of the things that I didn't like about the early sixties was that there were songs that said 'violence can solve all your problems'. One thing I really did like were some of the song titles. some of them were really funny, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTqnam1zgiw&feature=PlayList&p=BE6C0E168FE6D049&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=14"]YouTube- Music Video - "Da Do Run Run" - The Crystals - 1963 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQvMBFZUk84&feature=PlayList&p=4676964A364087A7&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=21"]YouTube- Betty Everett - The shoop shoop song PAX
On Pax Man's violence point Crystal's "He Hit Me (And it Felt Like a Kiss)". With hits like that and the propensity for guns no wonder Phil Spector ended up in the trouble he did. Well, Phil Spectre and his wall of sound produced alot of great songs. But this one just happens to be one of the more mellow tunes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EM3gHg1Kus&feature=fvw"]YouTube- Sonny Charles & The Checkmates, Ltd. - Black Pearl (45) PAX

You may not believe this but this female group was as about rebellious as you could get back in the early sixties. They wore pants, tight sweaters and leather boots on stage ! First memories of music - the Move and the Kinks - I had an older brother into these bands. I have actually just downloaded a load of songs by these two bands as well as early Beatles. I kind of forgot how good they were and still are.
I agree that Phil Spector was/is a genious. The songwriters he had working with him wer excellent. His arrangements were fantastic. And to get that sound out of such primitive equipment was incredible. But he was notorious for pulling guns on people most notably: Ronnie Spector (one of his ex-wives) John Lennon Leonard Cohen The Ramones I'll save The Ramones story for later it's kind of funny in a dark humor way. Peace Out, Rev J
When this song first came out I thought it was loving and really good. But I listened to it closely about ten yrs ago, and I thought- what a stupid idiot! you're going to let someone go running back to the car when a train is coming? You gotta be some kinda nut case. No romance there at all- plain stupidity if you ask me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE-AcC53OYY"]YouTube- Teen Angel-Mark Dinning-original song-1960 PAX
Leader Of The Pack ? Teen Angel ? We've arrived in Death Disc country ! Here's a good one [produced by Joe Meek]. If I was ever to cover one of these type of songs, this'd be the one... There was a lot of great music that came out of the sixties. a good indicator is how often it is covered. This particular song was covered by an awful lot of artists.
