Hey everyone :D I jumped right in asking questions before introducing myself, how impolite!

What can I say bout me? Not much really... Married, got lotsa cats, live in South Wales, UK. Love dreads but until I found this forum was a bit scared to have 'em - all the bad print about them like not being able to wash your hair, bugs and stinky locks. But reading through your posts I'm getting real excited bout getting them Woohoo!
My hair twists really well so thought I'd start out with them and go from there... Anyone tried that?
Hubby's gonna help me this weekend doing them, whenever I've done them by myself they've always ended up with a huge centre parting - just looks like I've tied them in bunches!
Anyways, looking forward to chatting to you all :)

    Ta ra!

OK...lets see...here is a pic of me now, kind of hard to see that my hair is almost to my waist. I was gonna chop it all off cause I was tired of combing it, but now I have bigger plans. I am gonna dread up natural. I will post pics as I grow, and when the galleries open up again (apparently they are closed for construction right now).

Thank goodness you all are here, I have a feeling I am gonna need some advice...I want these babys to look good.[IMG][IMG]

    hey everyone!

ive had my dreads for about 10 days now, but the rubberbands are kind of frustrating. I feel like a little girl with 60 rubberbands in my hair.

    A few quick questions

    1)how often should i wash
2)when can i take out these rubberbands
3)WHAT DO I DO WITH THE TIPS? I have 'kind of knotty root-rubberband-KNOTTY-rubberband-straight tip' and i think i need to do SOMETHING with the tips.

    thanks!

    *edit*

oh, and is nutregena anti-residue shampoo okay to use?

    thanks for the info.

I think I'm going to wash my hair for the second time in 24 hours :(. My friend showed me the rip and tear method, and the ones im doing with that method after taking out rubberbands are about 20 times better. The problem is that there is too much wax for them to get real knotty. Hopefully I can get some out.

I plan on going to the beach tommorow, and getting a salty dread bath :)

Just thought I'd say hi. Stumbled into this forum after finding the personal forum section. Kind of an accident, but maybe not. I don't have dreads yet, but I will once my hair gets a bit longer.
Anyway, pretty chill place here dudes.

Bass Just wash out as much of the wax as you can, remove the bands and let the hair do what it wants :) the rip method does work well to a point but only really for tips and starting them off. To actually get the dreads to tighten you just have to LEAVE them.. its horrible because they just disintergrate for a while into fluff but then suddenly you will wake up after about 4-6 months and see your dreads actually looking like dreads :)
