elastics dont help locking, probably want to remove them asap.

Thanks. Some of the original ones I backcombed in the beginning are falling out since I have stopped waxing. Just what do I do to keep more from falling apart?????

hun, just relax. they will come together on their own but if you want to help them on their way you can do some clockwise rubbing. If you wanna back comb I'd do it extremely lightly..and 4 kids? I have one, couldn't imagine 4, say it's crazy!

By coming apart I mean I have about an inch at the root that is knotted and the other 6-7 inches stick straigt hair now..sucks.
Not too bad...I love big families...and mine is suprisingly chill. Think it may the age gaps...17, 15, 10 and 4.

its hard for hair not to lock in time. if you back combed once you probably dont want to do it again. this hair will be the foundation of your locks, the last thing you want is a weak foundation.

Well what can i say, my names Chris, i live in Beautiful Nelson BC Canada, considered by most to be dready capital of BC, so many nice dready here and lots and lots of localy grown organic produce and great ganja!!! I had my first set of dreads in my early teens and have had a few sets since, the longest of the sets being kept 4 and a half years, sadly got lost to lice. about a month and a half ago i removed yet another set of dreads that were almost 2 years old (1 year 10 months to be exact) and yes here i am again set#5 or 6 (Lost count) just started 2 and a half weeks ago. For some reason i just keep dreading my head, i love dreads what can i say. Havnt fiquered out how to post pics with my message but got pics in my photo album, check em out and let me know whats you alll thinks.

    welcome chris
there is no rewason to ever lose dreads to lice
theres lots of info on removing lice if you search old threads
in 18 years ive never had lice once even though ive definately been around infested foks many times
so i'll pass on a few tips but therre are many more in old threads
    1st..prevention
goold ol teatree oil repels lice, but wont get rid of em once infested
so will pennyroyal oil buyt that has a dangfer to anyone pregnant as its used as a natural abortion agent
i dont know if the scent alone is a danger, but since the oil is verty strong i wouldnt risk it

to get rid of lice in dreads get a bottle of rubbing alcahol and put a bunch of cayan pepper in it..soak the dreads ands scalp being very careful to avoid gettijng it near your eyes
it will burn..and beflamable so wrap ytour hair in plastic and dont smoke and avoid any flames leave in 1/2 hour to an hour
wash it out well then soak thyedreads in undiluted apple cidart vignagar leave that in the same length of time wash out
do that every 4 days for 2 weeks
when you do this also wash all clothes and bedding often even if clean and get a treatment for all furniture (or a bomb that kills therm)
u want to make surew thereews no chance of reinfestation..land that includes the upholstery in your car

Thanks SE! (I've missed you by the way). That is great advice. IT's something I worry about with a little one who will eventually be in school where it spreads like mad!

Hi!!! My name is Mary...I live in the backwoods of South Carolina. I recently started college and get a lot of weird looks but I love my dreads. Just tonight I wrapped one of my dreads with green and yellow hemp. I started my dreads with wax when I thought that I could get mature dreads in like 6-8 months not the case mine still have awhile to go, I've had them since June 2008. I haven't used wax in 3 months they've been thriving ever since. My first dreads name is Sunflower.

    -Mary :)

That is what I was thinking would happen. A couple months after I started my dreads I got the bees wax from dreadheadhq and it didn't really do anything except make my hair smell good. and I definitely went overboard with the wax :( I'll post a picture later today.

I didn't really put the wrap in to last along time so could take it out to do it
