guess I may as well say hello. I'm David AKA cocoa. I had a couple friends backcomb my hair back in May this year, it was already over 12 inches long so that was a lot of work but they turned out really nice

Coming up to the four month mark now I'm finally learning to "leave my hair alone" (as the good people at Klocks would say) and stop worrying about all the looping and unraveling that's going on. If loops are a good sign then my dreads are going to be the most amazing ever in 6 or 7 months time hopefully I'll have some pics for you guys once I get the camera on my comp working...

I'm currently living in on-campus accomodation in Dublin City University and studying first year engineering. I only moved out a week ago so I'm still buzzing Hopefully I'll hang around and meet some cool people here and get to see some nice dreads while mine mature.

WOW GUYS!!! this is really great!!!

I remember When Earthy Mamma, Fleasy, and my self started this dread lock forum.
we all felt the hip forums needed a good dread blog to go down.. so we got to gether and started this.

And now its made it onto the Main forums pages,, not just the little personal pages..
Its really quite beautiful to see how things evolve becoming self sustained microcosms
as a reflection of our everyday world.. thank you every one for creating this forum.. its really all of you who make it happen.

awesome forum i have gone all the way back to like the first threads
and just have read tons of useful interesting stuff
I live in san clemente and i love to surf and just love life
My parents don't know im getting dreads lol maybe when they develop they might like them
they didn't want me getting them
My mom bought dr bronners lol she read all the reviews and i told her it was all healthy and biodegradable
now im just waiting for my hair to start forming up and knotting

 

hey there family! i just love this thread! it's so good to see so many roots grow'n! i've been coexisting with my dreads for about eight years now...i had really long hair to begin with and alls i did was stop brushing my hair and then ripped them apart when needed. it feels soooooo GOOD! i'm look'n for a pic of the back of my head...but i don't think i have one.

Hey everyone! I'm Bryce aka Hempmama. I'm 22 years old and I've been wanting dreads for about 8 years now. I had backcombed my hair in the past (3 times actually) and eventually ended up taking them out. Then I decided to go natural and for months, I didn't have a single tangle. I gave up on it for almost a year. Then I felt the calling again. I had a talk with my hubby (who doesn't like dreads very much at all) and decided that it was something I needed to do. It was time. It's been about a week or so and you can def. tell. I have some mini dreads...well after I ripped them from the monodread. lol
Anyway, that's my story, it's an honor to be here.

 

had dreads over the summer but only were a couple weeks old. started working again and had to get rid of them.

i was at festivals the whole summer so i never even thought about taking pictures of them because i didnt plan on getting rid of them soooo soon.
hopefully soon enough i should have them again.
i plan on trying to do it naturally this time.
last time i used dread wax and it really did a toll on my hair.
its still alittle damaged.

Hi all, I'm Jen. I think sporks are endlessly useful, hence the username. I've had my dreads just over 3 months now, and they're in the more than alittle messy stage. I'm loving it!

 

i have a titanium spork... hands down best investment ever

 

So do I actually! I bought it before I went traveling. Needless to say, everyone was extremely jealous. And I mean really, sporks are excellent to begin with.. but titanium! Pretty fantastic.

 

Hey, my name is Shaun & I've had dreads for a bit over 2 years now. I'm pretty useless at posting things on the Internet etc so I'm not sure how to put a picture up of my dreads. Glad to be a part of this group though, I've been looking through here for the past couple of days & decided to join as I don't really have any other people to talk about dreadlocks with since I know hardly anyone else who has them haha.
