Me too, I was classified as (chronically uninstitutional and eligible for re-enlistment) would have been good if they knew that first before they drafted me.

After 2 years I guess they gave up on me.

    :)

In support of the "there will be no draft" mindset I offer the following:

Enacting a draft is the quickest way to make middle America activist... they will wake up and pay attention. All this bailout shit and the two police actions in the middle east have been enabled by collective inattention by a population more interested in what's happening on American Idol than they are in how their government is wasting their tax dollars, destabilizing the world, siphoning off wealth to banks, etc... as is evidenced by the responses here.

Add to that the worldly mix of membership here with folks from Canada, the UK, Mexico, France, etc being posed a question that applies to citizens of the U.S.. You're getting a fair response in that it reflects the general attitude of the people here.... and is good evidence as to how the government is getting away with its shenanigans.

    Peace

    Some people always read it.

Hell, it's some people's job to read it, people who aren't involved with the government.

Yet a whole lot of individuals read too much into it and panic.

I don't remember the exact number, but I remember reading that the bailout act was something like 1,000 pages long, and it was passed within 24 hours of it being completely written. NO ONE in congress can read that fast and comprehend everything with in it.

Back before the printing press was invented and books were copied monks has to preserve the word of the Bible. Each monk had to memorize a certain part of the book, and then teach it to his understudy, so on and so forth.

No one knew the full Bible, even though one could read one of the few manuscripts, but the Bible did exist as a whole through several people.

Canada won't harbor draft dodgers, sorry. It's out of my hands. But maybe I can distract the border guards by jingling my keys...

  13. Probably wouldn't be drafted, being 28. It was hit-or-miss there for a while. If another war breaks out that needs a draft, I predict it'll be too much of a catastrophe for anybody to give a damn by the time they reach my age group.

    I wouldn't go.

I'd go just to dance in the streets.

    I think it's retarded.

LOL, you never know, my concern is that some young people are so brain washed that they never think about anything.
I have met some very thoughtful young people here.

I guess that an old hippie is only OK if you are into the latest fads and don't ask hard questions.

Obama says he will sign the Compulsory Public Service Act when it hits his desk. It includes the clause that if they are needed in combat areas that the youth corps will be sent. What are the odds that after having 4000 dead americans in Iraq and Afghanistan that we may need to send some more to die, but being politicians need to cover the story with a false reason.
What could be better than saying it's Compulsory Public Service and making people think it's for the environment etc when the real reason is to get some more warm bodies for the military industrial complex.

I was just trying to wake people up, if it is really going to happen then knowing before hand is a real plus.

But you have to wanna know, and that's sad.

    Dude

PS the service which will be for everyone will be tied to student loans, jobs etc. .
