the doors are an amazing band. they are my favorite and so different than any other band at that time. jim had his own demons but that is what made the music so unique, although we can't count out the amazing robby, ray and john. together they formed a band that is just one of the best to ever come out of the 60s-70s. however, there are the doors of the 21st century, which i haven't seen but heard they are amazing, but i just think it wouldnt be the same without jim. i found a random tidbit that you guys would find rather interesting about the Oliver Stone movie and the band itself.. The film kicked around for nearly twenty years before it made it into production. Amongst other actors considered for the role at various times were Tom Cruise, Jason Patric, and John Travolta. During the time Travolta was being considered he met the band (who were initially quite involved with the possible production), and they discussed reforming the band and going on tour with Travolta on vocals. In the end the band chose not to do this because they felt John Travolta was too nice to fill Morrison's shoes. (source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101761/trivia )
~ Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile, eggshell mind ~ Oh yeaaa I think hes talking about the first experience he had with death/blood. I think he was about like 5. Because i guess one time him and his family were driving thru airzona or something and they saw a truck turned over and these indians scatted over with blood from the accident, and jim was shocked and kepy saying 'dad pull over those people are dying!" and i guess his dad did try to get some help. and he said that he thinks one of the dead indians lying on the ground soul came into his body. and that the was one of the most important moment of his life. Yup, i read this in an interview he had! But anyways, yes the Doors..they are radical! Ive listened to them ever since I was little but i never quite got in to them until a few months ago! Now im all obsessed, and trying to read any books about them or jim morrison. Jim morrison was so very handsome. and reading and listening to his lyrics and trying to interpet them is very interesting. i somehow make his poetry relate to me or my experiences or feelings in some way. and his voice...aw man! its wonderful! esp. in light my fire! well..it sounds good in all the songs but thats my favorite song of his voice. and ray, john and robby were such good musicans! i could daze out to their music. and robby wrote a few songs too..like half of light my fire, love me two times, and touch me...maybe more but thats all i know. and jim morrison said in an interview that he thinks ray, john and robby are so good that they should try to work on something all musical. and also i dont think ive heard what Ray sounds like singing, but ive read that for some concerts he had to sing because jim morrison didn't show up yet. he probably sang pretty good. So yup..i wish i could of been to one of their concerts..the way they are described seem so ...weird and very cool! damn oh well...i guess....
I dont' know enough to information to make up my opinion on the Morrison conspiracy but I think it's very possible he could of just started a new life somewhere else. It's even possible with many others...but highly unlikely. I mean so many people here talk about living in remote communes and retiring to them so isn't there a chance that they might of wanted to do the same?
My Forever Love reminds me of Jim.Even though every one says he looks like a younger Steven Tyler. But he has been just as drunk as Jim b4. this is his photo. ""Oh show me, the way to the next whiskey bar..."
oooh, Doors..? no comment The first time, when I heard their "Love Street" on Radio BEAT I Fell in love with jim's voice, and ym love goes on.. Jim, and whole Doors've been amazing!
I love all 60's and 70's music. I'm a HUGE fan of The Doors, The Beatles, Led Zep, etc. There are a couple more bands I'd like to get into....
I 1st heard the "People R Strange" cover in The Lost Boys Movie when I was 6/7. Of course, at the time, I knew nothing about covers or The Doors. All I know is the song stuck w/me 4 yrs, so whenever I heard it, I said "That's the song from the Lost Boys". Anyway, I saw the movie at 13/14 & thought "he's as weird as all get out, but hot" then 4got about it. 4 yrs ago, I was listening 2 the radio & heard the cover, then a few minutes (or a few days later I 4get) later, I turned it 2 1 of the classic rock stations & heard the original 4 the 1st time & thought "wow, those guys did an awesome job covering that song!" Then not long after, I heard a different song & said, "those guys again!". Now I was intrigued. Then I heard the DJ I now always listen 2 play a mini set of their stuff & got more intruiged. The next day, i went to The Block in Orange & went 2 Virgin Megastore. B4 I left I decided 2 look at the posters & just happened 2 find 1 of him. I was looking at 1, then looked 2 my right & there he was, starin at me. I went "oh my god, who is that?" & w/o hesitation grabbed a copy & bought it, Not knowing anything about him. All I saw was the nname The Doors in red on the bottom. It's been downhill ever since. I've had a few weird experiences w/him, but that's a whole new thread 4 a whole other day LOL. I think he's 1 of the most beautiful things I ever did c & the music's just fabulous. I love The Doors! BTW...No 1 Here Gets Out Alive is a great book. I have it as well as Ray & John's books
...the doors...realistic...intellegent...brilliant...art..I thought it was soo kick ass when Jim had his own perspective philosophy on life....i loved the way he viewed his life...everytime i think about it, it gives me adreniline...i love his music and his poems...excerpts...quotes...i think his quote "I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps, "Oh look at that!" Then-whoosh, and I'm gone...and they'll never see anything like it ever again...and they wont be able to forget me-ever"-Jim Morrison...that was a really really awesome quote..and what do i have to say? .i LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a fan of the Doors since their inception; and this is the very first book about the band, written by Mike Jahn, in 1969 when I was 15. I bought their first album, the Doors, in January of 1967 and am still a fan but I do feel that the band isn't the same, as of course it cannot be, since 3 july 1971
the doors and the beatles are my favorite bands also. i grew up listening to the doors, and they've been my obsession for about 5 years. i love them so much, their music is amazing. espically the lyrics. jim morrison is such a beautiful singer and poet. but the band is not just jim. robby, ray, and john each put they're own touch into the band. it wouldn't be the same without them. i love john densmore's drumming, it's very jazzy.
...i thought ray was cool because when he played his keyboard and its like he played anything to make the rhythm to the song and even if he played off key then it still sounds kick A$$!!!!!!!!!....
