jim was an amazing song writer/poet but honestly, i don't think he had a very good voice. im not much of a doors fan. i do like a few songs though, like, roadhouse blues and light my fire.
I never understood the greatness of Light my fire. Really dig a lot of other songs by them though, and I find Morrison's vocals pretty nice
I love The Doors. Evreyone who loves The Doors should watch this video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=l-XXgQY6xKA
Listen to The Changeling, one of the Doors' most underrated songs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTjqz0kf_eo
Yeah, I learned about The Doors before I even touched drugs. Now, they are one of my all-time favorite bands.

I love The Doors. They're ultimate for me. Ever since the first time I heard them they've given me this feeling that I can't even explain. I'm utterly amazed by this band. I wish I could've seen them live.
what do these guys mean to you? A lot. Here's my story... In 1981 (early October), I was at home listening to their first album, as it was a favorite. My mind, however, was stuck on some girl I'd met a few days before. I was really quite fascinated by her, but was fearful of a serious relationship, being a young unemployed pothead and all. The phone rang; it was her. She asked if we could meet and do something. I suggested dinner, she said fine, we worked out details... The song Light My Fire came on, and the lyrics jumped out at me, seemingly addressing my mix of joy and fear... The time to hesitate is through, No time to wallow in the mire, Try now we can only lose, And our love become a funeral pyre, Come on baby light my fire... All these years later, we're still together, we're still happy, and she's sleeping just a few feet away right now. I think of that day every time I hear a song from that first album. And yes, we could only lose, but we're lost together, at least.
id reckon that you played the doors at the wedding ay? We should have, but we had just a very small ceremony in a friend's back yard. But we didn't plan anything out, really, and I was so nervous (I'm terrible at introductions and social skills, and was even worse then) that I don't really remember it as fun at all. We were so broke (both unemployed- how's that for a great start?) we were barely eating, didn't have a car... but lived on love, and that's all we cared about. The day after the wedding, we moved a thousand miles away and started over. If there's a song that really tells the story of us, it's Born To Run. Sorry to be the rambling old guy telling stories, but it's fun to remember, and kewl that you would afford me that lead-in
Now that's what psychedelic music is all about. Thanx, one of the most inspiring stories on this site!!
