The Doors are like N'Sync...

Green Day make good music--excellent guitar work and drumming, and great songwriting. They put on a good concert and they're fun. What's wrong with that? I wouldn't necessarily consider then most influential, though. I like the Doors. I am not some screaming chick who only likes the Doors because I wanna fuck Jim's corpse. I love the music. And everybody's so quick to mention the women who scream about jim being hot, but what about the guys who grow their hair long, wear shades, quote jim without understanding him and are overall douchebags? they're annoying too.
The Doors were an actual band when they were discovered by Elektra. NSync was manufactured.

And for the whole talent bit, FUCK! it's rock and roll! If you want talent and perfectly constructed music and all that bullshit, you're in the wrong genre! gah! Furthermore, what does it matter if Jim Morrison could play the guitar or not? Could Bob Dylan play the saxophone? Who cares? Jim's a singer, what does it matter which instruments he can play?

im still interetested in seeing soulrebel's writing. Cuz if its better than jim morrison's, than he's wasting his time on this message board, he should be out there changing the lives of countless teenagers as jim's "sub-standard" writing has and will continue to do.

 

Right so when did he call Jim's writing "substandard"...anyway Say his writing is better than Jim's that doesnt mean it will change the world. Poetry is about self expression, changing the world has little to do with it.

Even if we feel Soul's writing is shit, does that matter in the great scheme of things? If his writing changes one person it is just as good as Jim's, since one person can make the difference in the world.

Yet again i feel my post will be ignored. Ironic though how close-minded people on this forum are about a simple comparision bettween 2 musical groups. I guess mind expanision is dead here.

Newo: The Soft Parade was one of the worst "psychedelic" albums that came out in 1969. Waiting for the Sun, with the exception of "Spanish Caravan" and "Unknown Soldier", is right there with Soft Parade.

 

...I've actually read some of Chuck's lyrical stuff & I think he's a great writer, to be honest. Of course, that's just my opinion. The thing is, everyone has their own opinion regarding what makes a good writer into a good writer. So if you think Jim Morrison was a poetic god, then that's fine. If you think he was a nonsensical rambler, then that's fine too. Oh, and here's a newsflash for everyone: the Beatles had a cult following of girls, performed corny love songs early in their career, and sold the whole "pretty face" image (like the Doors/Jim Morrison & Nsync). However, the Beatles managed to mature their sound, lyrically & instrumentally as their career progressed. Maybe the Doors could have exceeded their so-called greatness if Jim Morrison had not died, but you never know. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that they were ok & maybe they could have been better or whatever.

Jim was an amazing poet... i love all of The Doors music. In no way can i see a comparison between them and Nsync... lol

I find you incrediblly cocky and arrogant, but you seem to know your stuff, I think you should try and be more accepting of other people's oppinions, but i can say the same about that for all of us. ANd despite myself with each post that you post i find myself getting less and less mad at you. Your oppinion is your oppinion and you can back it up better than alot of ppl on this forum, i still dont agree with you, but god damnet, i respect you (haha ive always wanted to say that). But seriously lets end this thread soulrebel has expressed his beliefs on the issue and so has everyone else.

P.S. your still not as good a writer as jim hahahah (that was suppose to be funny so dont take it out of context as you did with one or two of my other posts). but seriously who really cares at the end of the day.
