N'sync good? Lets see here. Intelligence ran in Jim Morrisons family. His father was Chief of Naval Operations for one thing. Jim's highschool IQ test showed that he had an IQ of 170 which beyond genius level. While Jim was goin to UCLA film school a classmate of his said that Jim was a much better filmmaker/director than he was. BTW: That classmate of his was Francis Ford Coppola. Jim Morrison was also an avid reader and had a room filled with books. He would invite people into his library and shut his eyes and ask his guests to pick out a book open a random page and start reading. After a few sentences he could tell them the name of the author, book title, page and paragraph. His college profs said that many of his term papers were so well written that he could have used them for a doctoral thesis. Jim Morrison was a talented performer, filmmaker and writer. Break on Thru and Light my Fire just scratch the surface of the great talent that was The Doors. BTW: Robbie Krieger wrote the lyrics to Light my Fire. The music of The Doors is timeless and they are still remembered and appreciated 35 years after Jims death. Let me tell ya NO ONE is gonna remember N'Sync 35 years from know. N'sync is gonna end up like the New Kids on the Block, talentless, lipsynching has been pretty boys that became laughing stocks. Lip synch ooops I mean N'Synch doesn't write or sing their own songs and couldn't even play a kazoo to save their lives. They have to dance and jump around to make up for their total lack of talent.
Too bad Krieger and Morrison can't even compete with Richards and Jagger... What does that have to do with anything? Ah, what a fun thread.
ahhhh, the sloded minded-ess...if you think the doors are good, jut not the later stuff...then i think you need to open your ears to the WArning CD put out by Green Day, granted, its not the greatest music....but its leaps and bounds above "loud, troublemaking, selfish, overindulgent brats" ....thank you very mch... on that note, Jim had some ok writing, notthing to special...why is no one singing Edgar Allen Poe poems, or singing Homer's The Oddyssey, why? cause Jim was a pretty face on an ok band on that note...how come the Guess Who never get added to the great bands of the 60's/70's...Bachman had some great guitar plying, Cumings can write poetry [like oh mi gawd thats like soo awesome, he is like sooo kewl] and their drummer is probobly one of the most technically skilled eh, doors and nsync are on the same sort of level...
The only reason your saying this soulrebel is because everyone else likes the doors. Why do you have to make such a big fucking deal about it. People liked the doors, they stood the test of time and people still like them, while where the fuck is N'sync. "OMG im so fcking cool and unconformist, i dont like the doors!!!!lolz, im so smart". Give it a break!
random lyrics time... Well, I'm a king bee Buzzin' 'round your hive. Well I can make honey, baby. You gotta let me come inside. Well, I'm a king bee (King bee.) Buzzin' around your hive. (Hive.) Well I'm a king bee (King bee.) Buzzin' 'round your hive. (Hive.) I'm gonna make honey, baby. Let me come inside. (Yeah.) I am able (Able.) To buzz all night long. (All night long.) Yeah, I am able (Able.) To buzz all night long. (Long, all night long.) You hear me buzzin' baby. Some stingin' goin' on. (Ahhh...) Well I'm a king bee. (King bee.) Want you to be my queen. (Be my queen.) I'm a king bee, girl. (King bee.) Want you to be my queen. (Be my queen.) Together we can make honey The world have never seen. (Seen...) I got a stinger Long as my right arm. (My right arm.) I got a stinger, baby (Got a stinger.) Long as my right arm. (Long as my right arm.) It's my love machine, baby. It won't do you no harm. (Yeah...) Well I'm a king bee. (Well I'm a king bee.) Want you to be my queen. (Want you to be my queen.) Well I'm a king bee, (Well I'm a king bee, king bee.) Want you to be my queen. (Be my queen.) Together we can make honey The world have never seen. Thoughts in time and out of season The Hitchhiker Stood by the side of the road And leveled his thumb In the calm calculus of reason Hi. How you doin'? I just got back into town L.A. I was out on the desert for awhile "Riders on the storm" Yeah. In the middle of it "Riders on the storm" Right... "Into this world we're born" Hey, listen, man, I really got a problem "Into this world we're thrown" When I was out on the desert, ya know "Like a dog without a bone An actor out on loan" I don't know how to tell you "Riders on the storm" but, ah, I killed somebody "There's a killer on the road" No... "His brain is squirming like a toad" It's no big deal, ya know I don't think anybody will find out about it, but... " take a long holiday" just, ah... "Let your children play" this guy gave me a ride, and ah... "If you give this man a ride" started giving me a lot of trouble "Sweet family will die" and I just couldn't take it, ya know "Killer on the road" And I wasted him Yeah these are the first 2 i clicked on...such great poetry...
I fail to see the point in why this keeps going, some people will love The Doors, some people will hate them, just like any other band.
Actually "King Bee" wasn't written by Jim. I don't know who wrote it... many bands covered it, and it was on The Stones debut, which came out over a year before The Doors first recorded a demo.
Slim Harpo I believe it was. Also, there's a pretty good cover of that song by an early Syd led Pink Floyd, back when they were still an R&B/Blues band.
That's your opinion, I think they compare really well. I also rate John Densmore above Charlie Watts and would compare Ray Manzarek with Keith Emerson.
And Tori Amos is like Britney Spears... See what you made me do??? Now Michael the beekeeper will hunt me down and kill me slowly!!! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!
jim to me (and most ppl) was a great writer, soulrebel ur being foolish, this is all just oppinion and ur being a close minded little bitch for not seeing that. Your oppinion is no better than any1 else on here, so lets end this thread and agree that the doors are awesome. Haha just kididng but seriously you need to pull your head out of your ass soulrebel, you sound like a stupid idiot who's trying to sound smart. JIm morrison had more talent in his finger than you posess in your whole body, so dont critisize those who are infintely greater than you will ever be.
Yeah, that's my favorite cover of it. I won't argue with Ray... I find him to be highly annoying, but he was one of the best rock keyboardists. But The Doors never put out an album as fun as Their Satanic Majesties Request, or albums nearly as great as Let it Bleed, Exile on Main Street, Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet, or Some Girls.
1) Jim being a great writer is not an opinion. 2) My pointing out that Jim was not a great writer and that The Doors are not nearly one of the greatest bands ever is not an opinion. I used to think they were, but after opening my mind to more and more music, I've come to notice just how overrated they are. 3) If my opinion does not ignore fact, it is better than one that does. No. 1) My head is not and has never been in my ass. 2) I am not a stupid idiot. 3) I'm not trying to sound smart. I am a better writer than Jim Morrison. And, unlike Jim, I can play guitar.
The Doors, Strange Days, Absolutely Live and L.A. Woman all kicked ass. And Waiting for the Sun, The Soft Parade and Morrison Hotel weren't bad either.
i think i can now effectivly end this thread and no other responses will be needed except to thank me BUT anyway... 1) the doors were not a highly technical band compared to alot of bands from the late 60's....my proof kids dont run around bragin they can play break on through nearly as much as if they just ran stairway perfectly (or as near to perfection that they hope to attain) 2) the doors not being a highly technical or complex band musically (and plz dont argue that they are cause i have proof that alot of bands from the time are alot more complex musically) makes them less inpressive to some people. 3)lyrically it is all an opinion and you will NOT convince (sp) most people otherwise. I mean some people swear Kelly Clarkson is deep. 4)The comparison between the Doors and N'sync has a basis in fact alot of people listen/listened to both of them because it is/was popular. Growing up past the doors is an opinion, none of you are going to change Soul's opinion so stop trying. Soul chances are you arnt goin to change thier opinions, i understand why you started this thread and you had every right to start it as everyone had a right to responded. Unfortunatly this thread has accompilished little to nothing and everyone needs to get over it. I think alot of people need lessons on what is an opinion and what isnt so let me give a quick example:The Doors had a keyboardist(.....FACT) The Doors are awsome(.....OPINION). If you still dont get it GO BACK TO SCHOOL(opinion). Now i realize everyone has an opinion (Fact) but to say who ever doesn't agree diserves to be sodomized(sp).....(newo) is worthless(..is an opinion word) and why a 51 yr old would care enough to post that is beyond me (fact since this is an actual belief i hold). We are on incase people are missing it HIP FORUMS, i dont see why all this argueing and useless(...is an opinion word) insulting has any place in a forum for hippies, infact it contradicts the whole hippie idea. i think(...a good clue that this is an opinion coming) i have covered everything, so now lets all just get past this STUPID(opinion) arguement. *phew*Thank you.
Excellent point! I can't even imagine why anyone who can even tolerate N'Sync, or worse prefers them to the Doors, or is simply so tone-deaf and unhip as to presume to compare the two is even doing on this board, other than as an "outside agitator" from the loony far-right. (Back in the 60's, the "outside agitator" was a hypothetical entity of extreme radical persuasion invented by college administrators and governmental blowhards to rationalize unrest among their students, who would "never" have conceived of questioning or challenging duly constipated authorities of their own volition.)
