Trump’s lawlessness is emboldening El Salvador’s brutal regime | Noah Bullock and Amrit Singh

    excerpt:

"The people of the United States and El Salvador deserve better. The lawless collaboration that led to the disappearance of hundreds of men – transferred from the US without due process into indefinite detention at Bukele’s Cecot – has forged a common cause. It unites Americans who fear the loss of their democracy with Salvadorians like Ruth López Alfaro and countless others who have already lost their freedom to autocracy. The futures of democracy in both nations are now inextricably linked through the mutually reinforcing tyranny of their leaders."

Trump’s lawlessness is emboldening El Salvador’s brutal regime | Noah Bullock and Amrit Singh

    excerpt:

"The Trump administration’s agreement with Nayib Bukele to detain US immigrants deported to El Salvador without due process seems to have emboldened the Salvadorian president’s autocratic regime. Last week, in a troubling sign of escalating repression, Salvadorian police detained Ruth López Alfaro, a prominent Salvadorian human rights lawyer at Cristosal, an organization fighting for human rights in Central America."

Trump has found God. It's him.

    https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/05/30/trump-god-messiah-assassination-attempt-00362322

    excerpt:

“I have no reason to doubt that he would … prefer to believe he was saved by a supreme being because he himself is special rather than the would-be assassin was a lousy shot or he got lucky,” Alan Marcus, a former Trump consultant and publicist, told me. “He prefers drama which fits into his make-believe narrative, a narrative which always has him being the best, the biggest, the strongest, the toughest, the brightest, et cetera — none of which are even close to the truth, but he knows he can convince people,” Marcus said. “His world is fantasy, scripted like a movie — not biblical unless, of course, that helps bring a particular scene or chapter to life.”

Trump is still trying to move his NY state criminal case to federal court, after he was convicted and sentenced.

Trump was convicted of 34 felonies a year ago. He's still battling the case

    excerpt:

For Trump's criminal defense, he relied on then-defense attorneys Todd Blanche and Emil Bove, who now serve as the deputy attorney general and principal associate deputy attorney general. Earlier this week, Trump announced that he plans to nominate Bove -- who led a purge of career law enforcement officials before the Senate confirmed his nomination to help run the DOJ -- to the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.

With his former defense attorneys now working for the government, Trump earlier this year tapped the elite Manhattan law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell to handle his criminal appeal.

Effectively shutting down an agency while abiding by statutory requirements.

United States Agency for International Development - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"On March 28, former DOGE member and current USAID executive Jeremy Lewin announced plans to wind-down USAID by July 1 "following congressional consultations."[12] The Trump administration would fully put USAID under the State Department and would reduce its staff to 15 statutorily required positions down from a total of roughly 10,000 positions, effectively eliminating the agency in all but name.[87]

The United States State Department will then take over USAID’s remaining functions, presumably the approximately 20% Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously spoken about.[88] Some employees will remain at USAID until September 2 to responsibly shut down the agency.[12]"

Some of Trump's pardons this week.

Trump commutes gang leader's sentence in flurry of pardons

    excerpt:

"In addition, Trump issued pardons on Wednesday for:

Former Connecticut Governor John Rowland, who was convicted on election fraud charges and sentenced to two and a half years in prison in 2015

Kentrell Gaulden, a rapper known as NBA YoungBoy, who has faced numerous drugs, weapons and fraud charges

    Convicted fraudster Kevin Eric Baisden

Mark Bashaw, an army officer who was convicted in a court martial of violating Covid protection rules

Tanner Mansell and John Moore, who were convicted of theft at sea when they released sharks they thought were being illegally fished. It turned out the sharks were being legally caught for research purposes

Michael Harris, the co-founder of Death Row Records, who spent decades in prison on drug charges. Harris had his sentence commuted by Trump during his first term, and was issued a full pardon on Wednesday."

Leavitt and RFK Jr. can do better than that excuse.

They can say that the research papers were there but that the Deep State used space-based directed energy beams to destroy them.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/29/blue-states-cheer-trumps-tariff-setbacks-00375415

    excerpt:

"Seroka said the port has seen a recent uptick in activity after Trump lowered a 145 percent tariff on Chinese goods to 30 percent, as American importers moved to scoop up products that had already arrived but were sitting on the docks. The initial 145 percent levy resulted in 17 ships canceling bookings and a 30 percent drop in imports over the first two weeks of May.

But it could still be weeks or months until the ports see imports pick up, Seroka warned, and lagging trade comes at a critical time for American businesses, which typically would already have orders placed for Christmas and year-end holiday shopping season."

I'm getting to the point where I'd rather see New England states become the next Canadian provinces.

One in five Americans want their state to secede and join Canada: Poll

    excerpts:

"A new Leger poll revealed that 20 percent of Americans said they wanted their state to join Canada and secede from the union."

"While few, 9 percent, of Canadians said they think it would be likely that Canada joins the United States, 20 percent of Americans in the poll said they would like their state to secede from the U.S. and become a part of their northern neighbor, according to the new Leger report."

Most polls are almost worthless. In St. Louis on KMOX radio there is a program that has a democrat and a republican that talk about the issues and the politicians. They don't get mean or nasty with each other. The day before the election, the republican stated that based on polls Biden was going to win. I remember that in Iowa Biden had a 3% lead in the race but Trump won 13%. When Trump won the election both men were shocked.

Trump shows once again that he is willing to throw anyone under the bus.

This time it's Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society.

Trump just threw one of his most powerful allies under the bus

    excerpt:

"In his Thursday night post announcing that he and Leo are never getting back together, Trump pointed to a recent decision by the US Court of International Trade, which struck down an array of Trump’s second-term tariffs, as a triggering event. Notably, one of these three judges, Timothy Rief, is a Trump appointee."
