Trump apparently was using one of the futures prices of gasoline when he made his claim that gas was $1.98 per gallon and further claiming that it was due to his Drill, Baby, Drill campaign slogan. That's not what people actually pay for gas.

Trump also said this week that gasoline prices are far more important to the general public than inflated prices of goods and services as a result of his trade wars.

He's using those two false claims to try to convince the Fed to lower interest rates.

Where Trump is likely getting his $1.98 gas price figure

    Hatfill is back.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/05/04/hatfill-covid-hydroxychloroquine-anthrax/

    excerpt:

"Steven J. Hatfill, a virologist and White House adviser during President Donald Trump’s first term who pushed hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus despite what most researchers said was a lack of scientific evidence, has joined the second Trump administration in a senior role at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Hatfill will begin his second week Monday as special adviser in the director’s office at the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, a small agency responsible for preparing the U.S. for disasters such as pandemics and biological and chemical attacks."

A couple dozen of them were standing behind Turmp as he took the oath of office in 2025 with his hand not on the Bible (and Melania standing next to him in her McDonald's Hamburglar hat). None of Trump's left-behind farmers or any other working class people were in sight. Just the ultra-billionaires.

All of that in plain view.

Not a peep out of the Republicans who have been whining for decades about George Soros supposedly working behind the scenes to manipulate Democratic presidents.

Trump desperate for a trade deal from anyone.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/05/business/trade-war-deal-trump

    excerpt:

“We’re negotiating with many countries but at the end of this I’ll set my own deals because I set the deal, they don’t set the deal, I set the deal,” he told reporters Sunday. “This is not like a big deal that’s gonna be signed — in some cases we’ll sign them, but we don’t have to sign them. I’ll be setting the deal, I’ll be setting the tariff.”

Trump says he did 200 trade deals recently but he didn't. He's just speculating about possible trade deals.

It's fun to tell Trump to cut costs until you're the one who is cut.

    https://www.npr.org/2025/05/05/nx-s...emy-maryland-emmitsburg-fema-federal-spending

    excerpt:

"In March, the Trump administration suddenly cancelled in-person classes at the National Fire Academy here, which trains the country's firefighters. The academy is not only a big part of Emmitsburg's identity, it also helps drive the local economy.

Davis says the administration is reviewing the academy's operations, and he is hopeful it will restore classes. If not, he says, he'll see the administration somewhat differently."

If he jumps through some hoops for Trump, he might be granted an exception and have his funding restored.

With oil prices like that, nobody is going to drill any new holes. About half of the US capacity is just sitting there.....why should they pump more if it will cost less? The only way fuel prices will drop significantly is with reduced demand.

Trump is making false statements that the holes have already been drilled because of his Drill, Baby, Drill mantra and supposedly that's what has caused his claimed really big price drop, the one that is in his mind and is fictitious.

With USAID shuttered, Palestine’s most vulnerable lose a lifeline

    excerpt:

"Of the more than 800 USAID contracts suspended in January, five essential projects in Palestine are now jeopardized by Trump’s executive order, a USAID employee informed +972. Current USAID-funded programs in Palestine include water infrastructure, childhood development, and civil society initiatives. This employee, like many sources consulted for this article, requested anonymity due to the fear of negative repercussions for his employment."

Trump and Musk are trying to throw out a lawsuit by USAID.

    https://www.law360.com/articles/2334931/musk-doge-trump-look-to-toss-usaid-dismantling-suit

    excerpt:

"Elon Musk, President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and others targeted in a lawsuit by U. S. Agency for International Development workers urged a Maryland judge Thursday to toss the suit alleging the gutting of the agency is illegal, saying Rubio's appointed role overseeing USAID legitimizes the action."

The first 100 days of Trump out of 1460 (6.8% of his total time in his second term).
