The cheeseburger promise might actually give RFK Jr. the job.

The unqualified Hegseth promised he would stop drinking if Congress put him in charge of the entire military. Congress confirmed him.

Matt Gaetz has been the only casuality in Trump's nominations for high level positions.

Hegseth is unqualified to run the military regardless of his drinking problem. But Congress confirmed him anyway.

Trump did the same maneuver just after starting his first term. His travel ban against groups he didn't like caused chaos in the travel industry.

Higher education institutions across the country anticipated he might behave similarly at the start of his second term and advised students to return to campus before Trump is inaugurated.

Americans need to be prepared for four years of Trump's antics.

They decided to bring this upon themselves. They jumped and cheered for Trump's Hannibal Lecter remarks at his rallies and voted him back into office.

They didn't criticize him for his 39-minute music fest that was supposed to be a question-answer session to find out what he was planning to do in a second term. Trump told his followers at the event 'who wants questions anyway.'

    https://www.themarysue.com/nice-job...quences-of-voting-in-favor-of-trumps-tariffs/

    excerpt:

"Donald Trump’s aggressive trade war threats against America’s closest allies have economists warning of severe economic pain ahead for the very voters who put him back in office.

Just one week into his second term, Trump has threatened massive tariffs against Canada and Mexico while celebrating a tariff-based strong-arm “victory” over Colombia. Economic experts predict these moves could devastate working-class communities across America’s heartland. “Whatever tariff that might be is going to be in addition to whatever President Trump does in the future when he’s thinking about an overall tariff,” National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told Fox Business, hinting at escalating trade barriers."

Fed puts hold an planned interest rate cuts amid Trump's flurry of executive action.

    https://www.cnn.com/business/live-news/fed-meeting-january-01-29-25/index.html

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump’s “demand” that interest rates come down further was not met on Wednesday, when the Federal Reserve instead decided to hold rates steady. This decision followed three back-to-back meetings with rate cuts in the months before Trump took office."

Trump went on a trantrum of smashing glassware. Now he's picking up the pieces.

    excerpt:

"Concern was coming from all corners even before the White House walked its plans back. Even as they broadly backed his attempt to scrutinize government spending, some of Trump’s allies on the Hill said they planned to press the president for more details on his proposed funding pauses. Republican governors similarly pushed the administration for clarity amid concerns the freeze could interrupt critical services in their states and jeopardize their financial stability."

Trump's return to office is like a group of juveniles who vent their frustrations by going on a vandalism spree during the first warm weather week after being cooped up all winter.

Trump's supporters can side with Stephen Miller if they so choose, thinking that financial damage to themselves is worth the quest to try to eradicate wokeness in the U.S.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/29/trump-rescind-funding-freeze-fallout-00201350

    excerpt:

"Senior White House aide Stephen Miller appeared on CNN that afternoon and continued to pile blame on the media, arguing with host Jake Tapper that the order did not apply across the board and instead was intended to eradicate “wokeness” from the federal government."

Trump and Miller's quest to rid the country of what they deem 'wokeness' can be thought of as a form of wokeness.

They are all caught up in a mental masturbation soap opera drama that means more to them than the country's financial and social health.

When economic times are favorable, politicians and the general public have a tendency to slip into a culture war soap opera mentality.

Perhaps the U.S. needs a long, deep recession to bitch-slap itself out of its psychological stupor.
