Groceries are still out of reach, millions remain uninsured, inflation sees no sign of letting up, and the nation is more divided than ever. But hey, at least I can't use my passport anymore.
He did not place his hand on the bible whilst swearing in. Can one imagine the firestorm had President Obama pulled the same stunt back in 2008? One expected a more grace and hi class than the litany of grievances to be heard at todays inaguration. Would have been nice to have a day without his grievances in respect of the audience.
Same goes for communism. Every time it's been tried on a national scale, it's led to totalitarian rule by a privileged oligarchy!
As expected, Trump has pardoned all of his rioters. That includes the ringleaders and the violent ones who attacked police. Trump Grants Sweeping Clemency to All Jan. 6 Rioters The extraordinary pardons and commutations extended to those who committed both violent and nonviolent crimes on Jan. 6, including assaulting police officers and seditious conspiracy. By Alan Feuer Jan. 20, 2025 Updated 9:19 p.m. ET Trump Grants Sweeping Clemency to All Jan. 6 Rioters excerpt: "The pardons will also wipe the slate clean for violent offenders who went after the police on Jan. 6 with baseball bats, two-by-fours and bear spray and are serving prison terms, in some cases of more than a decade. Moreover, Mr. Trump pardoned Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, who was serving a 22-year prison term after being convicted at trial of seditious conspiracy — a crime that requires prosecutors to prove that a defendant used violent force against the government. A representative for Mr. Tarrio said he had been released from a federal prison in Louisiana and was expected to return to Miami, his hometown, by Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Trump’s actions drew an immediate firestorm of criticism, not least from some of the investigators who had worked on Jan. 6 cases. “These pardons suggest that if you commit acts of violence, as long as you do so on behalf of a politically powerful person you may be able to escape consequences,” said Alexis Loeb, a former federal prosecutor who personally supervised many riot cases. “They undermine — and are a blow to — the sacrifice of all the officers who put themselves in the face of harm to protect democracy on Jan. 6.”"
We’re witnessing the systematic dismantling of the country as we’ve known it and I’m not usually prone to melodrama. The hand off the Bible was no accident. Weird times are ahead.

Brother of Officer Sicknick; who was attacked by Trump's rioters and died the next day; is appalled by Trump's blanket pardon of his rioters. Trump inauguration live updates: First pardoned Jan. 6 rioters released in D.C. excerpt: "The brother of fallen Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick gave his first reaction to ABC News on Monday evening after President Donald Trump pardoned of over 1,500 convicted Jan. 6 rioters. On the call, Craig Sicknick was in shock and called the pardons a "betrayal of decency." "The man doesn't understand pain or suffering of others. He can't comprehend anyone else's feelings," he said. "We now have no rule of law," he added. Sicknick also said he is now personally concerned for his safety. His brother, Brian, was brutally attacked by rioters, video evidence shows. The 42-year-old military veteran, who worked at the Capitol for 12 years, died a day later after suffering two strokes."
Trump continues to make delusional statements. https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/20/economy/tariffs-trump-executive-order/index.html excerpt: “I will immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families,” Trump said in his speech in the US Capitol Rotunda Monday. “Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens. Trump orders U.S. to leave World Health Organization. https://www.npr.org/sections/goats-...18/trump-world-health-organization-withdrawal excerpt: Elisha Dunn-Georgiou — president and CEO of the Global Health Council, a nonpartisan group that advocates for global health – said withdrawing is "really bad for the U.S. [in terms of] access to data, to surveillance, to being at the table negotiating and holding other countries accountable when there is an epidemic or pandemic." Speaking to NPR last week about the prospect of withdrawal, she said: "Other countries with a lot of power — China, Russia — other powers that want to shape the WHO, would take [this] opportunity to do so."

As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible," Trump wrote at the time, directing his supporters to a website selling the Bibles for $59.99.
Some of Trump's rioters want reparations from the people they attacked. The Capitol Rioters Don’t Just Want Pardons From Trump. They Want Something Far Bigger. excerpt: "The tone of the event was intensely aggrieved, and it revealed the sinister scope of the alternate narrative that the “J6 community” has pushed—and will continue to aggressively push—about that day. Trump may have won the election, but for the sake of modern politics, this cohort is not going to let the Jan. 6 defendants be remembered as the aggressors. Instead of the rioters being the source of the violence, it was the police who were the attackers. Instead of storming the Capitol as an act of defiance, the rioters either innocently ended up there through ignorance of the law (“it’s the people’s house”) or were entrapped, ushered in by the Capitol police. Instead of trying to overturn a democratic election with force, the rioters were simply and reasonably asking lawmakers to “slow things down” and look into certain valid questions about the election. And instead of being expressions of rage, the protests were a matter of peace and love. Any violent acts the protestors committed were either done in self-defense or to rescue someone else, and any weapons they carried were either symbolic—patriotic expressions of the Second Amendment—or precautions against illegal action from Antifa."
