Zelensky still thinks Trump is going to save Ukraine from Putin after the way Trump has been talking about commandeering Canada, Greenland, and Panama.

Americans stocking up on foreign goods before Trump tariffs: ‘a sense of urgency’

    excerpt:

“Everything will go through the roof when [Trump] takes office,” said Carol Lee Wood of Virginia, who said she has made more purchases of beans, rice, powdered milk and freeze-dried fruits and vegetables. “I wish I could stockpile gasoline and avocados!”

A few readers said they had recently purchased hybrid cars, anticipating that Trump would end Joe Biden’s electric vehicle tax credit.

“I bought a 2025 hybrid SUV five days after the election,” said Ellie from Maine, who did not provide her last name. “It was the last one on the lot.”

The Budget Lab at Yale University estimates that consumer prices could rise 1.4% to 5.1% if Trump were to implement his broad tariff plan, which would be the equivalent of an additional $1,900 to $7,600 per household.

Trump has repeatedly lied about the electric vehicle tax credit supposedly being a federal government mandate.

Similarly, he has lied about the U.S. trade deficit to other countries as supposedly being U.S. subsidies to those countries.

Trump's supporters might actually be delaying purchases of foreign goods in anticipation of lower prices as soon as Trump takes office, mistakenly thinking that China soon will be sending the U.S. trillions of dollars of tariff money (in reality the money U.S. consumers will be paying the U.S. government for Trump's import tariffs).

Some may also be expecting their rent and insurance to go down as soon as Trump takes office and big, beautiful, inexpensive, quality healthcare for everyone (what he's been promising the past nine and a half years).

    Estee Lauder again.

I Knew Matt Gaetz’s New Talk Show Should Would Be Rough. It’s Worse Than I Ever Imagined.

    excerpt:

"He brings on George Santos, who appears to have a lot of time on his hands these days, for some makeup advice. Santos recommends an Estée Lauder foundation and for Gaetz to avoid highlighter altogether. (The clip has accrued 5,000 views, and a top comment that simply reads, “This is creepy.”) Elsewhere, Gaetz relies on some of the few allies he has left in government to give his show a faint access-y sheen. He hosted Rep. Andy Biggs to grouse about one of their eternal bugaboos—funding for the Ukraine military efforts, which they both expect to be marbled into an upcoming reconciliation bill."

Ronald Lauder is the heir of the Estee Lauder cosmetics company. Lauder told Trump in 2019 to buy Greenland.

Now George Santos is telling Matt Gaetz to buy Estee Lauder cosmetics to use on himself.

He wants Greenland because it is rich in rare earth minerals and other minerals like platinum and lithium.
Since we desire these for electronics and other items we mfg they are desired.
So his dumb ass thinks he can just claim the island for himself.

Gov. Gavin Newsom slams Trump's disinformation about California wildfires

    excerpt:

Newsom cited Trump’s past efforts to withhold federal disaster aid from states with leaders he was feuding with.

“He’s done it in Utah. He’s done it in Michigan, did it in Puerto Rico. He did it to California back before I was even governor, in 2018,” Newsom said.

“So he’s been at this for years and years and years. It transcends the states, including, by the way, Georgia he threatened similarly. So that’s his style. And we take it seriously to the extent that in the past it’s taken a little bit more time [to get federal aid],” the governor added.

It would be great if democracy could be stockpiled for use during difficult times when Trump is destroying it.

Canada's Trudeau urges US consumers to consider the harm of Trump's tariff threats

    excerpt:

"Trump has said that he would reconsider his tariff threat if Canada made improvements in managing security at the Canada-U.S. border, which he and his advisers see as a potential entry point for undocumented migrants.

Trudeau has said that less than 1% of illegal immigrants and fentanyl cross into the U.S. from Canada."

Those who had any remaining doubts that Trump is delusional should consider that statement by Trump.

    That was in 2017.

Eight years later Youngstown has the same problems.

Census data shows that in 2022 Youngstown's average household income is $34k compared to $65k for the Ohio average.

Youngstown's estimated house value in 2022 was $59k compared to $204k for the Ohio average.

Trump said all the good jobs were coming back. "It's all coming back."

Trump garnered enough support in Ohio over the years that it became a red state. That means he didn't have to visit Ohio anymore. He didn't during 2024. He visited Youngstown early in 2023 to capitalize off the train wreck and promote his bottled water by giving free cases. Then he disappeared.
