Trump refers to Newsom as 'Newscum'.

Newsom calls Trump's claims 'pure fiction' after president-elect points finger over California fire tragedy

    excerpt:

"Let this serve, and be emblematic, of the gross incompetence and mismanagement of the Biden/Newscum Duo. January 20th cannot come fast enough!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Newsom's office said there was no such thing as a water restoration declaration.

They also noted that the supply and transport of water are unrelated.

"Trump is conflating two entirely unrelated things: the conveyance of water to Southern California and supply from local storage," according to the post. "And again, there is no such document as the water restoration declaration - this is pure fiction."

Trump’s Territorial Ambitions Rattle a Weary World

    excerpt:

"The international system the United States helped set up after World War II prioritized trade in hopes of deterring conquest — and it worked well enough to build paths to prosperity that made American unilateralism less potent.

As Sarang Shidore, the director of the global south program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft in Washington, explained, many developing nations “are savvier, more assertive and capable even as the U.S. has become less predictable and stable.”

In other words, today the world is unsettled. The postwar equilibrium is being shaken by wars in Europe and the Middle East; by the autocratic partnership of China, Russia and North Korea; by a weakened Iran that is seeking nuclear weapons; and by climate change and artificial intelligence."

Trump’s Territorial Ambitions Rattle a Weary World

    excerpt:

The protectionist, imperialist age Mr. Trump seemingly romanticizes blew up when Germany and Italy sought a greater share of the world. The result was two world wars.

“We saw how that went with 20th-century weaponry,” said Mr. Immerwahr, the author of “How to Hide an Empire: A Short History of the Greater United States.” “It’s potentially far more dangerous in the 21st.”

Trump’s Territorial Ambitions Rattle a Weary World

    excerpt:

"Diplomats in world capitals said they would zero in on what his administration does, rather than what Mr. Trump says. Bigger nations developed plans to soften or counter his threat of punitive tariffs. Smaller countries hoped they could simply hide from four more years of gale-force America First.

But it’s getting harder for the world to keep calm and carry on.

At Tuesday’s news conference at Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump declined to rule out the use of force in a potential land grab for Greenland and the Panama Canal. He vowed to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.” He also said he could use “economic force” to turn Canada into the 51st state as a matter of American national security."

I could've told you that before they even voted.

He should have taken John Oliver’s offer.

If it was for Biden with 34 felony convictions, those four conservatives on the Supreme Court would have voted to expedite the sentencing.

Merchan admonished Trump for his claim that the gag order was illegal.

Trump sentenced to penalty-free 'unconditional discharge' in hush money case

    excerpt:

"Trump, he noted, has continued to call the order "unlawful" and "unconstitutional," even though "it has been challenged and upheld by the Appellate Division First Department and the New York Court of Appeals, no less than eight times."

"Indeed, as Defendant must surely know, the same Order was left undisturbed by the United States Supreme Court on December 9, 2024. Yet Defendant continues to undermine its legitimacy, in posts to his millions of followers," Merchan wrote."

It shows at least four Supreme Court justices (including two Trump put on the bench) are willing to entertain the notion that Trump has immunity for what could be considered a far-fetched claim to delay the sentencing for his criminal hush money case in NY while he's not even president.

It gives an indication of what may happen in the Supreme Court when Trump appeals the conviction and the issue of presidential immunity surfaces again but in a more intimate way with the case than the issue of a date of a sentencing hearing.

Trump sentenced to penalty-free 'unconditional discharge' in hush money case

    excerpt:

"Responding last week in his ruling to Trump's argument that the charges weren’t serious and that they should be dismissed, Merchan wrote, "12 jurors unanimously found Defendant guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records with the intent to defraud, which included an intent to commit or conceal a conspiracy to promote a presidential election by unlawful means. It was the premeditated and continuous deception by the leader of the free world that is the gravamen of this offense."

"To vacate this verdict on the grounds that the charges are insufficiently serious given the position Defendant once held, and is about to assume again, would constitute a disproportionate result and cause immeasurable damage to the citizenry's confidence in the Rule of Law," he wrote."

Trump has a way of just barely squeaking by to save himself.

This time he came up empty twice on Thursday in the federal appeals court and U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump and his associates haven't fared as well in the NY state cases against him compared to the federal ones. State cases are known to move at a quicker pace than federal ones.

Trump has lost two defamation cases to Carroll. He lost a massive civil fraud case in NY. He lost the NY criminal hush money case.

Trump's former White House chief strategist, Bannon, faces a state criminal trial in NY in February 2025 for his 'We Build The Wall' scheme. Just before he left office in 2021, Trump pardoned Bannon of federal charges against him. Two of Bannon's cohorts in the scheme were convicted of federal charges and sent to prison. They were not pardoned by Trump.
