    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/07/donald-trump-trade-deficits-00140101

    excerpt:

"The statistics illustrate how little Trump and his team understood the U.S. economy and how tax and trade policy work, said Gresser, who is now vice president for trade and global markets at the Progressive Policy Institute, a think tank closely aligned with centrist New Democrats.

“They didn’t understand what the trade deficit really meant and therefore they were not able to reduce it,” Gresser said, noting that other economic factors like how much a country invests and saves have a far larger influence on the size of the deficit than trade policy.

The big tax cut Congress passed during the Trump administration cut U.S. savings and boosted U.S. spending, pulling in more imports from abroad, Gresser said. Trump’s tariffs on more than $300 billion worth of Chinese goods “squeezed” the trade deficit with that country but caused it to swell with other countries, such as Mexico and Vietnam, he added."

In the 1980's, a photo of Gary Hart with a woman helped end his presidential campaign.

Fortunately for Trump, he was only charged with 93 felony counts, has a 34 felony count conviction, a civil fraud conviction ($458 million), two defamation convictions ($88 million), and a civil rape conviction.

If it had been something as serious as what Hart did, Trump would have lost the 2024 election.

J.D. Vance: 'If I Have to Create Stories... That's What I'm Going to Do'

    excerpt:

J.D. Vance tripled down on his debunked claims that Haitian immigrants are killing and eating local pets in Springfield, Ohio, while also admitting, “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

Woman sentenced in case that sparked Springfield cat rumours

    excerpt:

During the presidential debate in September, Trump said: "In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats.”

Vance later told CNN that the pet-eating stories were based on “first-hand account of my constituents” but did not provide further details.

Yep. Gotta be done. Wray is useless and can't be trusted.

I regard it as a promise rather than a threat.

President Trump is gonna do what's best for the nation.

Rounds and the farmers still haven't learned their lesson about Trump's tariff wars.

Rounds is willing to take more rounds (no pun intended) on the chin for the sake of Trump's new tariffs in a second term.

GOP senator praises current FBI Director Christopher Wray, calls Putin a 'tyrant'

    excerpt:

“Look, we're an [agricultural] state. And when I talk to my farmers and to my ranchers about that, they're concerned about retaliation,” Rounds said, though he added that they understand the importance of tariffs, especially when it comes to the border.

“If we've got to have tariffs, so be it,” he said. “We’re going to support the president.”

Tariffs have become the go-to, perceived, quick-fix weapon for Trump and his following. They have become functionally fixated on this modality, as if it's the only way to potentially solve the problems of the U.S., such as drug addiction.

After listening to Trump at the Trump-Harris debate, it's like a virus from outer space has invaded and has eaten the brains of Trump and half the population of the U.S.

Trump missed an opportunity during the 2024 campaign to promote his 'eating the cats' truther notion by having someone do a rap tune about it. Kid Rock could have helped along with Lil Wayne and Kodak Black whom Trump pardoned. They could have sold copies of the tune along with Trump's other merchandise such as gold sneakers aimed at the younger, urban demographic.

Then again, Trump's mind is so twisted that the posted parody video by The Kiffness mocking him might be seen by Trump and his following as factual and embracing him.
