Various businesses say they will pass Trump's tariff costs to consumers.

"We Will Pass Those Tariff Costs Back To The Consumer," Says CEO Of AutoZone. Here's A Look At Other Companies Raising Prices

    excerpt:

"Steve Madden (NASDAQ:SHOO) is one of the first companies to make a move. The shoe retailer, which sources 70% of its products from China, announced that it will cut its reliance on Chinese production by half, moving to places like Vietnam, Cambodia and Mexico. Even with these changes, customers should anticipate price increases as Steve Madden manages the higher expenses related to the effects of tariffs and changing supply chains.

Columbia Sportswear (NASDAQ:COLM) also raised concerns about how tariffs would make it more difficult to maintain the affordability of its products. According to CEO Tim Boyle, the company may be forced to raise prices to cover the additional tariff charges."

During the campaign, Harris should have formed a coalition of businesses around the country who would say that they would be forced to pass the costs of Trump's expanded trade wars to the consumers, and make it one of the centerpieces of her campaign.

Polls show that many Americans don't understand how import tariffs work and think that foreigners pay for it.

Republicans suddenly think that the economy is great and there wasn't voter fraud.

Republicans suddenly think the economy's great and the election wasn't rigged

    excerpt:

    "The vibes have officially shifted.

The economy Donald Trump said was broken? All it took was him winning, and consumer sentiment among Republicans soared.

Elections? Suddenly Republicans are on board with the reality that they’re secure. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he saw no evidence of fraud in the 2024 campaign."

Trump calls for investigation of Iowa pollster that predicted just before the election that he would lose Iowa. Trump says it's possible election fraud.

Trump family won’t be in the White House, but they’ll be just as influential outside

    excerpt:

"Donald Trump has accused Iowa pollster Ann Selzer of “possible election fraud.”

Selzer announced her retirement weeks after the Des Moines Register’s respected Iowa Poll incorrectly showed Vice President Kamala Harris with a 3 percentage point lead over Trump in the state.

Trump slammed the poll in a Truth Social post on Sunday, claiming it caused "great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time."

“Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited ‘newspaper’ for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!” Trump fumed."

Add the term 'warrior' to Trump's list..

Trump taps Carr to head the FCC, referring to him as a warrior.

Carr has stated publicly that he is upset that Harris was on SNL shortly before the election and Trump apparently wasn't also invited at the time.

How UFC head Dana White became the glue between Maga and the manosphere | Aaron Timms

    excerpt:

"The relationship between Maga and the UFC is more than simply transactional, however: there’s a real stylistic symbiosis between Trump and White, both of whom see themselves and their constituents as maverick outsiders upending the smug old certainties of politics, sport, and culture. Kid Rock’s rap-rock anthem American Bad Ass (“I’m an American bad ass, watch me kick / You can roll with rock or you can suck my dick”) became the unofficial anthem of Trump’s 2024 campaign. But it first became popular among the Trumpian core as a standard title fight opener at UFC events."

Will Melania be living in the White House for Trump’s second term? Probably not

    excerpt:

"She seemingly relished her freedom from the White House the first time around, as evidenced by her beaming smile upon landing in Palm Beach after Trump lost in 2020. And her apparent personal disdain for her husband, whose sexual misconduct allegations reportedly inspired her to renegotiate the conditions of her prenup before agreeing to move into the East Wing the first time around, has been likewise obvious for some time. (She reportedly quietly renegotiated the prenup again ahead of Trump’s second term, but this time without even agreeing to live in the same city as him.)

The latest news of Melania keeping her distance from the Beltway follows her rejection earlier this week of Jill Biden’s invitation to have tea at the White House. The invitation is part of a symbolic “changing of the guard” tradition that sitting and incoming first ladies do every four years to project a peaceful transition.

Trump's supporters ended receiving both Trump and RFK, Jr. (assuming the Senate will confirm RFK, Jr. for Secretary of Health And Human Services or Trump coerces Congress into recess so that he can do recess appointments that bypass Senate confirmation).

Even Zelensky seems to have become seduced by Trump. Another case of Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers.

Zelensky thinks Trump will end the war in Ukraine sooner than other potential U.S. administrations.

Ending it sooner isn't necessarily better for the long term survival of Ukraine.

It's possible Trump could end the war at the expense of Ukraine losing most or all of the Ukraine territory that Putin has already gained during the past nearly three years of the war. Ukraine could lose the entire country as a result of Trump.

Trump has a way of attracting the bottom of the barrel.

He will likely pardon most or all of the bottom of the barrel.

Court-martialed military veteran sentenced to over four years in prison for rioting at Capitol.

Court-Martialed Military Veteran Sentenced to over 4 Years in Prison for Capitol Riot Attack

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — A former U.S. Army soldier who was court-martialed for fatally shooting a handcuffed civilian in Iraq two decades ago was sentenced on Monday to more than four years in prison for his role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Edward Richmond Jr. attacked police officers with a metal baton during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. Richmond, 41, of Geismar, Louisiana, said he immediately regretted his actions that day."

Lichtman should be criticizing Trump the most for spreading misinformation, not Musk.

Although Musk does it too, Trump is the undisputed king of it.

Trump nominates another former Fox News personality to be a cabinet member.

Trump has tapped former Fox News host Sean Duffy to be transportation secretary.

Trump nominated former Fox News host Gabbard to be director of national intelligence.

Trump nominated former Fox & Friends host Hegseth to run the Pentagon.

Trump has selected former Fox News personality Thomas Homan to be border czar. Homan is a contributor to Project 2025 (that Trump says he knows nothing about).

That makes four nominations of people from Fox that require Senate confirmation.

Trump and Republicans have made George Soros the go-to villain.

Even Orban, the autocrat admired by Trump, has played the Soros card.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/04/us/politics/george-soros-bragg-trump.html

    excerpt:

"Mr. Trump hinted in 2018 that Mr. Soros was financing migrant caravans that were making their way to the United States’ Southwestern border. Figures on the right have also implausibly claimed that Mr. Soros has funded both the “great replacement” of white Americans with people of color, and the 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., as a “false flag” event to harm their cause.

The Hungarian leader Viktor Orban has made Mr. Soros his go-to villain in pursuit of what he calls “illiberal democracy” — an all-purpose scapegoat whenever his government faces a crisis it can’t handle.

Mr. Orban first discovered Mr. Soros’s potential as a politically useful enemy during Europe’s 2015 migrant crisis. That is when Mr. Orban accused nongovernmental organizations funded in part by Mr. Soros of encouraging desperate people from Africa and the Middle East to pour into Hungary as part of a plot to dilute the native population and to provide a pool of future liberal voters."

Consider the outrage if Biden had an expensive mansion in FL that a white supremacist and other unsavory characters had visited, had someone like Elon Musk in the mansion and seen more times in public with him than his wife, had Musk start a PAC that generated about $200 million in support for him during an election campaign, had Musk start a 'sweepstakes' of giving $1 million per day to someone who has to be registered to vote and who was vetted to make sure he was in support of him, had Musk as part of his transition team, and gave Musk a formal position within his administration.

Yet Soros is portrayed as the ubiquitous go-to villain that supposedly has his tentacles extending into everything pro-Biden and everything anti-Trump.

The Decade Civility Died, and “Civility” Replaced It

    excerpt:

"On the evening of his impeachment, the president attacked a dead member of Congress. In response, his widow pointedly asked for a return to “civility.” Trump’s spokespeople said in his defense that he is simply a “counterpuncher.” (Whom he was punching against, given that the subject of his attack is, again, dead, is unclear). Somewhere between Donald Trump’s speech and his wife’s selective anti-bullying campaign, the irony around demands for civility collapsed in on itself. Civility is no longer something that is achievable, or even useful. When it’s sought now, you can be certain it’s coming from the powerful asking you to be civil as they take away your rights and destroy lives. And that makes civility—once the promise of listening across difference, now the demand for cowed fealty—more than just a moral punchline. That the call for civil discourse has been weaponized to chide and marginalize the vulnerable makes it an apt metaphor for a decade that started with the faint promise of bipartisan unity and closes with promises of partisan annihilation."
