Trump has been claiming that trying to overthrow a presidential election is within the orbit of his responsibilities as a president.

He's hoping that the Supreme Court will rule that he can't be prosecuted for the official duties of a president, which he thinks includes overthrowing an election.

The police presence at and near the courthouse is to prevent another Trump-style riot like the one Trump helped incite at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

Security at the area has become more strict in the wake of the man who set himself on fire in the Trump supporters gathering area across the street from the courthouse. He died of his injuries

    excerpts:

"In the interview with Fox, Trump claimed she was in the dark about what was happening that day, although it was broadcast worldwide on television and all over social media. Trump said Grisham “failed to provide insight and information” that day.

“Had I been fully informed of all the details, naturally, I would have immediately denounced the violence that occurred at the Capitol Building,” Trump said. “And while Ms. Grisham’s behavior is disappointing, it is not surprising or an isolated incident.”"

"Trump waited until five days after the riot to tweet a condemnation of the violence."

After Trump installed stolen election truther, Whatley, to chair the RNC, it's launching what it says is a 100,000 person army that will supposedly enforce election integrity.

Trump Campaign and RNC Unveil Historic 100,000 Person Strong Election Integrity Program | GOP

    excerpt:

“The Democrat tricks from 2020 won’t work this time. In 2024 we’re going to beat the Democrats at their own game and the RNC legal team will be working tirelessly to ensure that elections officials follow the rules in administering elections. We will aggressively take them to court if they don’t follow rules or try to change them at the last minute,” said Charlie Spies. “President Trump has said that the Republican victory in November needs to be too big to rig. The political team will be working to ensure a huge victory for Republicans at all levels, and RNC legal is committed to making sure that victory can’t be rigged.”

To enforce election integrity or to create fear and intimidation at the polling place to keep voters out?

Reports today say that only one pro-Trump protester was at the pro-Trump gathering place across the street from the courthouse.

Trump should hope that he doesn't set himself on fire, because then there will be none.

Another rioter from the Tampa area.

Particular regions seem prone to being seduced by Trump.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas is another example.

Biden was in warm Florida hitting Trump hard for proudly taking credit for the overturning Roe v. Wade which has caused various states to enact draconian anti-abortion laws.

Trump was complaining about having to sit all day in what he says is a freezing courtroom while the few of his supporters who were protesting across the street from the courthouse seem to have evaporated.

Judge Merchan denied the request by Trump to turn up the thermostat.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/23/trump-biden-campaign-trial-00153963

    excerpt:

"But Trump is becoming increasingly outwardly frustrated by the situation he finds himself in — the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party facing weeks in a liberal city as details about his private affairs are rehashed in court — and the underwhelming displays of support from MAGA protesters on the sidelines, which he and his team have blamed on unfair security measures.

The setting could hardly have been more different than Biden’s in Florida. In his first campaign stop on Tuesday at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, he blasted Trump for “pain and cruelty” caused by the state’s six-week abortion ban set to take effect May 1. Biden called on voters to hold Trump “accountable” on Election Day."
